Oh, I would have to tear my eyeballs out and throw them up against and then use them as marbles if I had to have a conversation with your son-in-law.I have a co-worker who will give you a dissertation or recite a term paper when you ask her a simple question. I CAN"T STAND THAT !!! Just tell me YE S OR NO! I don't need all of that other stuff.

Everyone know if you ask me something expect to hear the truth. And I expect the same from others. I"m very blunt and to the point. I don't know any other way. That's one reason why I have a small circle of friends for 35+ years because we all have the same personalities and we tell it like it is and we keep each other straight. We tell each other when one is wrong and is out of line and that's it. The only way I know.
Looking back on my childhood, I never got a whipping for my truthful (tell it like it is) mouth. I guess they couldn't whip me or punish me for telling the truth and telling it like it is.
I teach my great nieces and great nephews the same way. So, when something happens when they are with their parents, they always "blame" me for whatever their child says.
I just thought about my nephew (my brother's son) has been sent to the principal's office several times because he corrects his teacher all the time. His teacher will either mispronounce words or give incorrect answers in class and my nephew will raise his hand and correct her and she will get mad and embarrassed and send him to the principal's office. When he gets there and explains to the principal what happens, there is nothing that they can do to him because he didn't disrespect her and talk out of line. He will politely raise his hand and tell her the correct pronunciation of the word or provide the correct answer to the question (since it's obvious she doesn't know it). And she has a college degree? Bless Her Heart.![]()
I'm true to the "tell it like it is" way of communication. When I was teaching, I kept a treat bowl just for the child that could catch me in a mistake. The afternoon classes got more treats than the morning classes. Lol. They had to be the first to raise their hand and be called on. Also, the first to find a typo or mistake on a test or study guide got a treat. I'm all for truth and thinking. Also, the students had to know the lesson to catch me. An added benefit that I didn't think of: every student in the class was intensely watching and listening to me. Lol. Don't know why all teachers don't do that.
