I tried something different... googled good jam spreads for baking chicken... and found a recipe for
Peppered Peach with Rosemary Jam. Lord ya'll... this is some good stuff!!!! You Jammers ought to try it! I used one ziplock of fresh/frozen peaches from last season and a large can of sliced peaches. WOOF.... some kinda good chicken.!
 
Hello, all! I haven't been on in what seems like forever- life just gets in the way of fun sometimes. I sure have missed all the people and conversations! There's no way I can catch up on everything, so I just read the last 2 pages. :). Happy Valentines Day!

I have a stirofoam still air incubator from Tractor Supply, I have to turn the eggs myself several times a day. Be my third year using it. Makes me feel a little more involved, mothering them a little i guess. Told ya'll I am a POOR *** country girl! It was only $19 bucks.... I probably mess things up, BUT I place eggs in there when they are laid... which means ALL are at different points of incubation... gets weird when they reach the 18th day... BUT I have them on the given metal bottom like they are supposed to be, then on the 18th day of each one, I place the lid of a dozen eggs container in there lined with a paper towel, and place them on it. Was recommended to me by an 84 year old farmer... seems to work. Dont know how it all effects the humidity level given per egg, since they are in same container, but it works. 94% out of 100% hatch just fine.

Don't know the answer to that since I don't free range all the time, sorry. Maybe somebody else will know.

My new puppy seems to be learning his job early! Too cold to let him live outside yet, BUT today it is beautiful. SO, I left the washroom door (where his temp bed is) open to the backporch... YA KNOW, where my chickens come to wait on snacks n crap ALL OVER it every day. Well, he barks and trots ot them when they attempt to jump up on it, yet lay around in the yard amongst them peacefully while they are just pecking around. I AM SO EXCITED!!! Was nervous, without being a farm protection breed he may, well, try to attack n eat them?! But it seems, maybe, if I let him become a PART of them, with devotion to US, maybe he will be okay!!!
