"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Black ameraucana lay blue eggs, but they probably aren't at tractor supply. Is it a striped chick? EEs can be an array of pretty colors tho.
I'm no expert but I'd put my money on easter eggers. The only other chicken I know that lays blue is crested cream legbars. As for australorps I have one she just started laying and her eggs are hudge. I'll get a few more.

Hoping for a fast recovery. Good to hear fast thinking saved his muscles!

Your turkeys are beautiful :)
Oh no, I am so sorry about your tom. I'm not sure what happened, but it's good that your neighbor is stepping up.
This is great news- I know how worrisome it is when shipped chicks are late arriving. How are the weak ones?
This is one of the best and most heartwarming stories I've heard! It gives me warm fuzzies!

I've had an exhausting couple of days. My husband was injured in an accident at work and burned his right arm when a paint recycler machine spewed out boiling paint. We spent hours in the ER with no one being able to figure out how to remove the paint from the burns. They finally sent him home with lots of meds and an appointment with the burn center at the BR General today. The people who treated him there were amazing. They debrided the burns and said that because he immediately immersed his arm in cool water, he prevented the burns from progressing to 3rd degree. They wrapped him in some new type of bandage that is infused with silver meds and stays put for a week. They said it significantly speeds healing and there will be a big difference when they remove it. Such good news! I still haven't slept, so I'm about to call it an evening.

I spent a few minutes with my turkeys today for some anxiety relief. I just love them!

If you look closely you can see the 2nd hen peeking out from behind the others on the right side. :)

I love that the hens strut sometimes too! They don't let the tom outshine them. :D

The problem is that many men find too many females that can't or won't do anything for themselves including work that they ^think* they want an independent woman. They were assured of their manliness by these females because they were relied on for everything. Then they meet an independent women and feel refreshed at first because they don't have to do anything (nice to do but don't have to). However their entire manhood is wrapped up in the fact that they are needed by the female. This then causes problems because they were in love with the idea of an independent women but weren't in love with her. They don't realize until it is too late that for that female love was enough to keep them around and by time they realize it it is too late and they have already screwed everything up badly. This also makes the female more independent because of the lessons she learned from him. The men that can handle a truly independent female are few and far between but they are out there.

Wow. You hit the nail on the head!!! Sounds like it comes from experience??

YOU GO GIRL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went tonight but I didn't see anything I wanted. Whoops, I mean, I went to buy a heat lamp bulb.

Some guy bought 24 RED pullets. There were A LOT of ducks. That's the LAST thing I need. Many of the bins were not labeled. That was scary. So I quietly exited. Will go back tomorrow though.

For another bulb???

Mzstre, so sorry to hear about your hubby's injury. Phew great he's a quick thinker. My heart goes out to you both. Your turkeys are beautiful.

I'm not sure what they looked like at chicks. They are three or four years old. They have beautiful bright eggs, are sleek and black, and have tiny little muffs and beards. I'd love to have some more just like them, but I don't have a too for them that would keep the eggs blue and not olive. (Though I wouldn't mind some olive eggs.)

You go girl. And I applaud you for being able to doing everything that he could. :bow Not tooo many of us around anymore. I"m proud that you are able to do all of those things and you don't rely on a "man".. :thumbsup You would think that a man would be proud AND honored to know and to say that his wife/partner can do all of those things but some aren't. I don't get it. :idunno

I work with some women who can't do DIDDLY SQUAT! I am so embarrassed for them. I don't understand how that works. And the sad thing about it, they don't want to learn how to do anything. All of the females in our office (except 2 - me and another girl) can't change a tire to save their souls. They have to call their husbands or someone else to come and change the tire. Heck, they can't even check the tire pressure in their tires with a gauge. Now, I know that is not "common" for most women to be able to do but c'mon ladies. Years ago, a co-worker's husband died and she said the strangest thing. She said that she has to learn how to do everything because he did everything for her. I was like, "HUH. What does that mean?" For some odd reason, I thought all women knew how to do "minor" things to their vehicles and other minor repairs around the house. I guess I was raised differently. My father taught me how to change a tire and check oil levels, water levels, put in antifreeze change the oil in a car at the age of 10 years old. The older I got, he showed me how to change brake pads and few other things. After my father retired from the military, he was a plumber/electrician by trade, so he taught me how to change faucets, a toilet, etc. I guess that's why I loved being with my father all of the time because he was always doing things that I considered "fun". While my sisters were inside doing their hair, nails and toes and make up and shopping, I was outside learning a trade. I thought that was normal but I was shocked to find out that is wasn't.

Men say they love an independent woman but when it comes right down to it, they are jealous and feel insecure.

Now don't get me wrong, it's very nice to have a husband to do all of those "manly" things but again, c'mon ladies, don't depend on him to do it all. That Is why I always encourage people to learn more and do more. When I see someone doing something that I can't do, I want to learn how to do it, so I ask them to teach me or I teach myself. But that's just me.

Learning = Empowering yourself.

Hats off to you for being a single mom and making it. Keep up the good work.

I learned the car stuff from my Dad too. And. Out of need our first cars were klunkers. I even learned to start my car by passing the starter when. I was unable to afford a new one. My dad took me duck hunting and taught me how to use a gun. Etc.

Great.!!! :bow

I was so glad that I knew about cars at a young age because when I went off to college 3 hours away, there were many weekends I was on the road at night and had to fix flat tires or my klunkers over heated and I had to wait until they cooled off and added water. I remember those good ole day.
