"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

congrats on your new flock! Next time you might want some a little younger if your in it for eggs. They start slowing egg production around 2 1/2 years. You will love these people. We're all chicken crazy. Pam
How funny!! We have a golden laced wyandotte (probably spelled it wrong) that my 8yr old named Drew Brees, because she is black and gold.

What a fluffy chicken! I love her! Oh my gosh! :lau I feel a fever coming on....
We spent the majority of the day outside, trying to get some things checked off of our "to do" list. Hubby worked on the new Chicken Barn. It still coming along......its just been slow. One of the main things he did today was make "Opa Nestboxes" (rollout nestboxes) We saw the design on this thread started by Opa. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/287684/new-rollout-nest-design-picture-heavy-edited-1-21 That thread was great inspiration. Ours isn't free standing though, they are built in. He is nearly done with them. I love them and hope the hens do too. I did about a million tiny jobs. And a big one. The girls and I did a spa day for all the chickens ;) A couple of baths and some spot cleaning. Check ups and such. Its good to put your hands on every bird now and then and look it over, top to bottom. I sat for a bit and watched the work going on in the Chicken Barn.....we had a bit of company. Our kitty Mr. Ziggy Pants came for some love and checked out the mostly finished nest boxes. His kitty brother (from another kitty mother) went missing a few days ago. Zig is really missing him :( We were also joined by Her Ladyship Princess Bailey Buttercup. This is my favorite chicken crush at the moment. She is still so super duper snuggly! She got a little wash and dry today. The poor dear had gotten poo on her shoulder. NOT befitting a princess  She graced my knee for awhile before modeling her freshly cleaned fluff by the new nest boxes. She also deemed the nest boxes worthy of use by all. We are a few steps closer to being done.....Yay!
Hope ziggys brother turns up and was just out catting. Great job on the projects! Not long ago we were working on our projects, took a break and surveyed the area, very happy with progress, but both came to realize, no matter what we build, buy, do for the creatures - along with always willing to try new creatures, that we will never be "done". Eva :lau every project has been hard and rewarding work we bleed for (literally!) And the moment we complete one, ok ok a few weeks BEFORE we complete one usually :th , the "next idea" is seen or thought up and Ta-da! I love it. Not a complaint! :p

Good morning y'all. I hope that everyone had a great weekend! Not a good weekend for me. Too many babies born every day both AM and PM. They are just "showing up" and I'm having to find somewhere to brood them.

Friday's hatch. I counted about 27. I think this is actually 2 groups but somehow the mamas crossed paths and one group merged with another group. So, I don't know who goes where. :/

I had another duck walking around with only 1 duck. I think some of her babies are in this group of 27.

I had another duck hatch some chickens on Sunday and she was headed to the pool for a swim. I caught her in time before she jumped in and the chicks jumped in behind her.

A chicken bought 8 babies home on Saturday. :hit Still trying to figure out where she was hiding.

Found 3 more turkeys setting on eggs in my neighbor's yard. They were hidden VERY well.

All of the peas have started laying, so I have to plug up the incubator.

Other than that, life is "peachy". :/

I know I was the one he made the comment to. LOL!! Just kidding and having a good belly laugh!!! No compound our own town. It wouldn't be family without you and Forever!!! We all know Kuntry would be at the top of the hill!!! LOL!
It could work... I'd be in. The indians did it. All lived together, had a medicine man, each person contributed what they were good at...

:gig look at all the ducks! :lau at catching chicks before a swim! Oh my!

This SERIOUSLY - JUST - HAPPENED!!!!!!!! He doesn't like how the greenhouse he built me is working out........and my pretty old salvage doors are not going to work on the new chicken barn
hmm.png
Since he wants to re-do the greenhouse he is putting them both on the NEW greenhouse he is planning.......double, swing out, pretty doors on a greenhouse. I like it. But ya, we are a bit nutty, and we love it. I guess practice makes perfect.
