"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Ok so I have a questions about leaving my chickens while I'm on vacation for a week. I know it's getting hot.... And only hotter from here. What do y'all think needs to be done. I have a friend that can check on them once or twice, but she knows nothing about chickens.( I just started too.. So I know nothing as well!) Any and all advice would be awesome!
They do have a lot of shade and a breeze from the lake..

Make sure they have enough food and water. Do you know someone that would be willing to come over once d day in exchange for the eggs? Pam

Not harsh at all! That's why I asked incase I needed to make different arrangements!

I don't have auto waterers and auto feeders ( that keep the feed dry and flowing). I change the water and give feed twice a day. My girls sleep in the coop and are free in the chicken yard during the day. The coops are too small to live in. They don't want to be confined anyway. They are like cats, once they have tasted freedom, there's no going back. My girls skeech to be let out in the morning. They throw themselves at the door. I don't think eggs could be out in this heat a week either. Some people are more automated than I am. I have to go into the chicken yard no less than twice a day. Also, chickens love to dump their food and water and kick dirt all over it. They DEFINATELY will do that unless to have auto feeders and auto waterers.

I think a setup like this is a good idea for those of us planning on a couple of days of relaxation

That's exactly the kind of thing that works if you're gone.

They do have beaded comb and tuffs. Here are my Amercaunas.

The beads are flat and clearly formed in two rows. I fear those are not Amercaunas, maybe Amercauna mixes. They will be beautiful. You'll enjoy them.

Can I clean my coops with a diluted chlorox mix?
Hummm?

The guy I bought them from hatched them and told me they were Amercaunas. I wonder what type of bird they are?

They lay blue eggs. I will post a few more pictures of them after this rain stops.

How many, what breed? Have they been pampered or have they been allowed to harden, tuffin up. all this will make a difference, are they pets or are they utillity chickens.

Today we had severe thunderstorms roll through about 3PM,with some high gusty winds, i looked out to see if my chickens had retreated indoors, some were out scratching in the pouring rain, the others were back and forth, they took the storm and heavy rain in stride like they didn't have a worry in the world, after the rain let up, i went to check and be sure the house wasn't flooded, it was dry as a powder house yet they chose the rain. Normally as soon as the sun comes up, they go back inside and stay there until the sun goes behind a cloud, they all come running out, soon as the sun pops out they run back in.

Easter egg ers also lay blue eggs. Amercauna mixes do. We had a discussion on here a couple of times about Easter Eggers vs. Amercaunas. It would be easy to search, I think. I don't believe yours are Amercaunas, but they look lovely.

Two orpingtons, one Easter egger, I'm not sure what types the other one is. One has feathered feet. ( will take a pick tomorrow) They are more of pets. They are only a few weeks old, but been outside from day one. My run and coop are shaded and just built another wooden tent where their food is, fully shaded with ventilation. Going to get a solar powered fan tomorrow. They have the a 5 gallon bucket with chicken nipples for water, and also a 3 gallon gravity waterer. They have a 5 gallon PVC feeder, and I made them a 3 ft PVC gravity feeder.
