"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Wow, talk about being prepared.

Thats too purtty for my chickens, they would jump on top and crap on it, it does look nice, but mine made from scrap lumber works as good or better, easier to fill, just open a sack of feed and pour it down the gullet and flip the top back over it, cost is 1 hinge for lid and 22 drywall screws which i had on hand, takes about an hr to cut and assemble, you can make it wide as you want, and paint it any color, the trough is adjustable as you can see between the 2 photo's, i have 38 feeding out of this one plus some scratch i throw out, the lid has been addded to this one after photos were taken, when filled all the way, 50 lbs, it lasts 14/16 days with the 38 chickens. I have a smaller one for the grow out coop where my other 11 Doms/Black sex Links are.

Not one post today has everyone abandoned this thread? Pam

I'm sorry to be so out of it!!!
Excuses:

I finally have accrued VACATION time!!! So I'm taking tomorrow off -- yes! off! free! and my wonderful boss left early today & told me to leave early to, so I did!! and I had a wonderful afternoon!! and am planning to have a wonderful DAY OFF tomorrow!!! (forgive me for all the exclamation points; this has been a long, long time coming).

I also am on deadline for Winnie's next column so part of tomorrow is most definitely devoted to finishing that plus a photo shoot. Our precious girl is doing well & hanging in there, but the next lump is growing & will have to come out in another couple of weeks. As I said before, we take it a day at a time.

Chickens are fine; guins are fine, yard is still muddy, I have to go buy a new pair of mucklucs tomorrow as mine sprung a leak 2 days ago (I've had them over 15 years so got my $$ worth) I want to go to the Academy & get some "pretty" ones for a change.

OK off to bed here, have a good one everybody!

Went to yoga. It's quite the exercise class. Extreme sweat. Then to the feed store and putting bags of food into bins. Then hours in the garage preparing for garage sale. Major sweating. Going out to check on the girls and to bed.

Finally on the road. Left this morning. Post on youtub "travel with chickens day 1 part 1". And "travel with chickens day 1 part 2". Very tired. Very long trip. Had to stop every hour to hour and a half, check on chickens, give water and let them eat a little. I put ice in thier water bottle and ice in the tray under thier coop. It was so hot. The Rabbit Hutch was a good choose, they could get out of the wind. Un able to link because I still do not have full use.... Need to find wifi.

The RV park I stayed at while I was finishing my move had chickens, 3 Buff Orpingtons. Now they have 4 Buff Orpintons. They seemed pleased with Mary because she was so tame and friendly. She was picking the chicks tarrably and drew bood on one of them last night. So I could not let her stay with them. The first night I had the coop she took it over and would not let the others in. I hatted to leave her, but I think she will have a good home. There was 1 altercation, last 2 sec. The rooster stepped in and stopped it.

I will try to stop earlier to marrow and try to catch up on my reading. Right now I want to get out of the heat.
