"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

What ya think of my 9mth old fbcm

I'll be glad when my August hatch gets to layn

Very pretty! How dark are their eggs? We have 2 cuckoo marans hens that we got a couple of years ago from Terri. They lay a nice color and they are nice heavy hens. They are just finishing up their molt and looking very nice. I kind of wish there was a STUD service that we could find a temporary "friend" for a couple of days, lol. Like I need more chicken projects

It's been a long day for me looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. Ron and I had the pleasure of meeting Topdog and Kackalinghen today. Sold two of my chickens must admit I will miss them. It Was my first time selling my Birds. But I know they went where they will be well cared for. Then I got 5 hens 3 easter eggers 2 are bantums, 1 red sex link, and 2 RIR's x NHR's. Kackling your other hen you weren't sure of is a buff orpington I thought they get bigger than yours but I'm not sure because I've never had them. But yours might be a bantum. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Pam

Thanks for mentioning the shop vac!  I have the same trouble when dusting in our new chicken barn and my allergies.  I have been just using a hand held dusting brush and wearing mask over my face.  The shop vac sounds like a great idea.......I will just have to see if I can get more length of hose.

We did the same thing years back with building our raised beds with untreated wood.  They lasted about 3 years for most of them.  Now we are switching to those poly pre fab raised bed kits.  We just put them in this summer, so I don't know yet how they will last.  Cedar beds would be pretty I bet.

I have the raised beds your talking about mine are on their 4th year and still like new. Its funny you mentioned the stud service I have had the same thoughts and don't know why someone wouldn't. It's extra money for something the rooster would do all the time anyway.Pam

It was great meeting you today and thank you, I was baffled with what breed she was... I hope your new babes will be accepted in the new flock and I am glad they are going to a good home with someone who will love them

I have 4 coops they were put in an empty one so my chicken's can get use to them before I put them all together. They will be spoiled rotten like all of mine are. Thank you so much. Pam

I think the main reason people probably don't is because you would really have to trust someone's word that their chickens are healthy and don't have a sickness or parasites that they could pass to your chickens. That could be a tricky business.

Crossing my fingers right now!!!

I hopefully have some Black Cochin eggs lined up to be shipped to us as soon as they have them available. We have my oldest daughters RED bantam Cochins that are doing better now (the condition they were in when we got them........ugh!

that's another story) But if all goes well, next summer we want to breed the Reds and Blacks, 6 ways to Sunday.

Red x Red, Red x Black, Black x Red, and Black to Black. We will see how much we have time for. Only so many days in the summer.

It could be done like dogs you have to have test from your vet. Thats probally why you don't see it not to many vets do chickens. Didn't think about that one. Pam

the legbars are doing great, they didnt show any signs of stress,as soon as i put them in the coop, they started singing happy songs, i put fresh hay down and wrapped th coop with a tarp, gave them feed and water, they went right to it, i had stpped leavingBR and checked them and gave them a drink and snack, they never made a noise the whole trip, i think they like to ride, i want to say thank you and Ron for the hospitallity and for the birds and look forward to another visit someday.LC
