"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Thanks for the advice. We just bought a security system just haven't had time to install it. I think tomorrow I will make the time. We trap coons and possums all the time. It is something bigger my cat isn't the only one missing my neighbor feeds the strays and some of them are gone too. Thanks Pam

I hope your able to trap what ever it is...I lost another cat last light. That makes #5. I never lose chickens I suppose because they are all put up at night. Nothing is ever able to get into the pens. But I usually lose two cats, then it stops for a month, then I lose two more and it stops. Now my best, and one of favorites did not show for breakfast. I feed them at 330am. Smokey even eats with the Gus my 100 lb weimariner, and he has even gone as far as eating chicken feed. I guess he figures if they can eat it, so can he. When I am feeding, he even jumps into the feed bags. It does not matter what type feed. He eats like a horse...

He was no where to be found...which is very very, very, odd. He's the first one to the bowl, day and night. I usually trip over him coming out the door. He has even gone as far as jumping up holding onto the window trim of the back door, just to see inside. I had to leave and had to quit looking, I sure hope he's just locked in a car or the shed, or even the coop. It was too dark to see and I could not hear him crying. He loves jumping in vehicles when you open the doors. Call it crazy but he likes to go for rides. We have to be careful when we go anywhere, he's worst than a dog. Last time I saw him was at dark last night when I locked the coop.. Crossing my fingers he is curled up in a ball sleeping in a nest box, or somewhere nearby.........Guess I am just rambling...

Hello everyone :)
Last time I posted pics I didn't have the run built. Here it is finished. I had to move quite a bit of dirt to get things partially level for the run.
It was a job to build and I'm glad to have it finished. It is 30'x32' covered completely with hardware cloth. The cloth is buried approximately 12" deep around the perimeter. I planted rye grass, rape, wheat, and crimson clover in the run. I know it won't last long but at least it will give the birds something green to get started on this fall.

The chicks have had access to run for three days now. I haven't seen them venture to the far end yet.
They don't hang out there long. Usually out for a few minutes then back inside they go under the roof or to the brooder where the lamps are for a nap.

A shot of the inside. The brooder is to the right through the door with plastic on it.
I'm not finished yet. Still have roosts and nest boxes to build

This shot was after I crushed acorns for the chicks. They gobbled them up like candy.
A lot of the acorns had worms in them. A little extra treat with protein. :)

The afternoon dust bath.

These guys are almost 4 weeks old now.

Hope all are doing well. I've been reading along with nothing really to post about.

Cheers to all,

Cody

Thanks for the input. I'm reading directions for the cameras right now. We put new lights on the studio we're building and changing some old ones on the house to match. You will love this one. The pic isn't the best sun was in a bad spot. I took some new picks of the Bielefelders hopefully you can tell how big they are. Pam
