"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

It's not bumble foot. I'm not sure what it is, but I don't like it. :(

Two of them are slinking around with their bellies low, like cats in heat. One has a runny nose and bubbly eye. The other is full of pin feathers, so I guess she's having a hard molt. Both are covered in poop from sleeping under the roosts.

EDIT: Here's a video of the hen I call Brown Beak acting strangely. She's the white hen; I was squatting so everyone came over to look for treats.

Here's Jenny:

I would give her electrolights and vitamins . After pox they'er immunity is dowm they can easily get a secondary infection. They can get mites and lice easier too . Pam

Morning everybody, it's a good day. Hope yours is too. I have a site that is so informative that it would pay to join their email subscription. Free.
This is an article on the value of selenium and Vitamin E on the hatching and mortality of eggs.

I've been reading on Ozexpat's thread that he uses it in his hatchery in the islands.

Anyone know why the pox are going around? My BLRW roo difinetly has dry pox, hands down, and 5 hens that were in a completely separate coop 20 feet away have it. I've pulled all of them out, and they are in the garage 100 feet from the coops. All have been on Tylan 200, Corrid, and Neosporian for the last 4 days. The pox are clearing up, they are not getting worse, but it is obvious now they do have It and it looks like CRD tried to creep in, I kick it in the rear with the corid before it had a chance to run free.

No other signs of pox in any of the other pens, everyone is healthy and happy. No mosquitoes here, believe that or not. Its been strange with out them, so I am just trying to figure out where it came from! Is the pox running state wide, or is it regional? Anyone know?

My Pox vaccine comes in tomorrow, I guess ill vaccinate the healthy ones in the coops, and leave these 6 to heal up in the cages. Vaccine is to late for them....

Where are you getting your vaccine from? I think I'll go ahead and do it too.

The video of the chicken walking side ways, I hope I am wrong, I hope someone else chimes in with a better answer, but check her symptoms against Marek's Disease. You might be able to find some videos on you tub.

Regarding pox:

I think I remember reading that it can be spread by wild birds? So maybe with migrations and increased bird populations it's flaring up now? Just my thoughts on the matter. Pam said it can be spread through the water, so maybe a wild bird shared your birds' water source? I hadn't read that about the water before, but it sure makes sense. I panicked about mine a good bit, but ultimately just left it alone. Good luck!

My water source is closed so I know that's safe, I use horizontal water nippels, but birs droping and insects I can't control! I'm not panicking I just have to many little ones the chicks range from a day old up my adults will be fine but the babies out number them! $9 to inoculate all of them beats losing them or spending more for corid!

Me either!!!! BTW, Terri, you know it's true that there was something essential missing from your life when you weren't hatching and raising chickens. Those little boogers are just so wonderful and nothing else is equal. Lol

Yeah, now I get to get up earlier every morning & get them fed & watered & it'll take longer every evening, too. But they are cute & fun to watch!

I had to laugh, one of my coworkers (100% city girl) asked me how "the embryos" were doing. She wasn't sure what to call fertile hatching eggs. I actually had to think about it before I realize what was she talking about.

Now, what to hatch next.......??
