"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

How far are you from me again. An hour?

Hmmmm. I like your present better than my present.

We can have a plucking party anytime :) I'll be set up to process soon.

About two hours from home! It's rained all day, but it's a good bit warmer overall. My chicken sitters called Saturday to let me know they broke my waterer. It was an accident, and accidents happen. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a new one and keep the old nipples for spares, or just make one.

They also told me two of my white hens are still puny. I knew that when I left, so I'm glad they're hanging in there, but I'm really anxious to get my hands on them.

We had Christmas with our Iowa family and I got a precious little chicken sign for the yard! I can't wait to get it out. There may be more "chicken things" because my husband told everyone that I wanted "chicken stuff" for Christmas.

We aren't traveling with chicks, either. My FiL has too many bantams, not silkies. The bantams were cute, but not worth the trouble I think. He offered us a silkie hen on our way out, but the car was already packed and I was out of room, and not prepared. If I had known, I could have saved a box from Christmas.

I love seeing all the chicks! Maybe it's the holidays, or the travel, but I actually am content with my flock. For now. ;)

Linda I watched the short video of your Christmas present. Looks interesting. I may have to come watch it with you :lau

I just bought myself a Christmas present also. An EZPlucker 169 and some killing cones. ;)

I have been looking at the EZ Pucker too! I told my hubby is be happy to raise meat birds, and all do all the processing ect. I'm just not willing to hand pluck a bird! Lol! Got to draw the line somewhere! :)

If you want silkies I should have some mid spring, you could have somedepending on the hatch. I really got them as brooders to hatch other eggs. :)

Well I couldn't resist giving the chickens a quick peek when I got home. I braved the rain and mosquitoes (forgot THOSE devils existed) for a good once over.

POX ARE ALL GONE!! :celebrate

My last two baby pullets look like grown hens. And even though all the sitters told me there were no eggs, there was a pretty pinkish one waiting for me.

400

The other one is from before I left, so I'll probably give them both to the dogs. I don't know who laid the pinkish one, but it was on the board underneath the rooster :lau

Can't wait to snuggle them all tomorrow!

ACK!!!! Annoying. I am just going to have to eat both of my White Plymouth Rock hens. Boo! One has had Wry Tail for awhile now.......and I am not going to breed for meat babies from a hen that has that. And the other hen that I THOUGHT was going to be great.......my daughter discovered that she has a defect in her breast bone. Its almost like a big piece is missing. So I am not going to breed meat babies from her. Grrr!

So I really hope one of you have a couple of White Plymouth Rocks sometime in the next few months that I can use for us to breed with our Malay rooster we are getting. Hopefully big FAT hens, lol.

We are going to be trying out a few different hens to hatch from for meat. But I really wanted to be able to use those silly White Rocks!

Oh well. At least these 2 girls are getting nice and big and they will be tasty whenever they do go to freezer camp.

:) By chance I caught the Thanksgiving sale, $200.00 off the 169 model. So it was about 600.00 plus the 160.00 shipping. The website says the sale ends today. I hope it holds up over time.
