I'M IN THE CLUB!! :celebrate:

FYI Santa is in the area. He passed me yesterday on I-49 when I was going home from work. He was driving a silver van. (I did a double-take because Jim drives a silver van - and has been known to play Santa on occasion)!

hope yall are enjoying this weather :) seemed like 70 degrees this morning when i got up and its already down in the 50's. Processed my first chicken yesterday, A young rooster about 8 months old. felt pretty nice to eat something that i hatched off myself lol.

Haha, I was just about to say y'all hunker down! I think the worst is north of us, and also south of us. I get nervous in this weather, though. Had a mini-panic attack a bit ago and put my shoes on to go outside with the chickens, but it's raining now. :(

I'm so excited to hatch babies! To sell, of course, I'm being constantly reminded. ;) I have to get eggs first, though... I've gotten two this whole month, and those were weeks ago. We're going to try some different nest boxes/material/locations to see if that's the problem.

I'm not sure what the going price is for veggies here, but I was paying $5-6 for eggs, $35 a week for organic veggies (huge box though) and fresh bread was at least $5 a loaf. Maybe start out at your price and see how it goes but I think it might be low.
I'm really thinking about going total organic from Azure for chicken feed as well. Can't I buy organic bread flour from them also? I need to get a catalog. I was thinking of about 4 tomatoes and squash or zucchini or various things Maybe 3 or 4 kinds plus a couple of small packs of herbs. I'm going to do a lot of green beans and cowpeas. And a LOT of sugar snap peas. I'm not sure what NW area of state will bring for price. Would it be different than south? A lot of well off people going in around me. One fellow down the road bought a bunch of land when he realized 100 million on natural gas. Big beautiful home. Maybe I should be thinking of doing organic chickens also. I'd have to have help on that but might be worth it. Way down the road on that!!!!
