I'M IN THE CLUB!! :celebrate:

Congratulations you will have so much fun. Plus I find the birds you hatch are sweet and like to be handled by you. I must admit I am attached to the first pair I hatched. Pam

FYI Santa is in the area. He passed me yesterday on I-49 when I was going home from work. He was driving a silver van. (I did a double-take because Jim drives a silver van - and has been known to play Santa on occasion)!

That's so funny. I think the guinea is a female not 100% yet but today I herd a two syllable call a couple of times. So let's see if she does it a few more times because she had calls that were one syllable too. Pam

Ok, here's my tentative setup. I can either kennel the cat at night, or put him outside. The temp in the bator has been steady at 99.5. I'm going to pick up an extra thermometer for the room so I can see how steady the temp is in there. There's room on the counter where I could add a little temporary brooder for chicks as they hatch. The lady and I are basically making an arrangement where I'll hatch and she'll brood. She offered to let me keep some, but I'm really happy with my flock right now.

She also said she has an abundance of roosters that's she's trying to do something with, because she just can't kill them. So I think I'm going to offer to dispatch them for her, or just take them off her hands. It would be good practice for me.

If you've trained your cat to stay off counters that would work out! I wouldn't throw him outside to many preditors to Rick losing your cat. Pam

He's not much of a counter cat (never say never! but it's extremely rare in the kitchen), but I've seen him sleeping on the one in there. Maybe if I put something soft and cozy down on the floor then he'll choose that instead.

Mine are having a ball! When it finally slacked off the rooster crowed for about ten minutes and now they're all wading through the yard looking for yummy things.
Jealous! Mine were divided between perching on branches and hiding in the coop! They were not impressed with the rain. lol

I kicked our sweet buns outside a couple of years ago (where is the smiley with the horns anyway!) Lol! He has plenty of warm places to hide and keep safe though. And he is fixed, so no wandering trying to find little hussy girl cats

He brought us a present the other day and left it in the yard. He doesn't even eat the mice and rats he catches. He really loves going and playing out in the field that butts up against our property.

Tonight we're testing the cozy kitty shelf. :D I increased the temp to 101 per instructions on the incubating forum, and I'm going to let it run all night to both test my settings, and my cat. Please excuse the flash; every single lightbulb in there has blown out, and it hasn't annoyed me enough to fix yet.

The directions in my incubator say 99.5 You we're told 101 on the froum? Does this increase hatching? Pam
