We dug a pond, but it has no water in it

For now we just use the black tubs from tractor supply. They are sturdier that the blue pool, easier to dump out, and easier to clean. They are worth the extra money IMO. We always had to replace the blue pools every year because they would dry rot. The black tubs last for years!

Well I thought I was done with the hatching, but a friend of mine just had her daughter's silkies eaten by a raccoon. I ordered a couple dozen eggs from the Buzzard Barn that should ship tomorrow. 24 + shipping for $25 total. Not to shabby of a deal! Hopefully they will make the trip and I will get a couple to hatch.

Now I am just waiting for everything I bought this year to grown up and start laying me some eggs. I am so over this chick raising stage! I'm ready to relax a bit!

Ok... Im freaking out! One of my hens has small scabs on her waddles, and her comb. And it looks like dried blood around it's nostrils. I was wondering if it's just the rooster picking on her? Or is it fowl pox? Do any of you have any experience with it? They say on here that it comes from mosquitoes... Please help!

You too, I layed in bed last night with my blackberry on BYC and when I finally put it down I layed there for about 20min. Trying to convince myself I don't need geese either.

I picked up 3 Tufted Romans a couple of days ago.Just starting to feather in.I've heard they are pretty docile and quieter(possible?) than the rest...lol....

On the brooding down here.....Yes it's much easier than maine IF you can keep them cool enough..lol..J/K... All of mine spend the first week inside. Then they move outside to brooders. My brooders are simples.1x12 sides with 1/2 x 1 bottom welded wire and 1/2 hardware cloth on top. And I just put one light over them.
