They say we gain a little wisdom as we get older. Well, to me, it isn't worth it. I think I'd choose to go back to being healthy, young and stupid. As it turned out my Acu-rite meter had the ability to read a constant humidity the whole time. Just needed to press a button. So much for the alleged wisdom!
My just finished homemade, Hideous-bator is ugly, not square, not level and not plumb. But, it is dead-on with every variable I care to monitor.
My son's co-worker has a yard full of heritage New Hampshires. They are absolutely beautiful and are laying machines. His 4 roosters are perfect gentlemen. No aggressive tendencies what-so-ever. This young man will provide me with enough eggs to fill my 1st egg turner (41 eggs). It would probably be smart to keep some of these fine birds but, the grandkids and I, all want nicer-looking and rarer birds. Wisdom?
Now, I need to find a digital thermometer that reads in 1/10ths of a degree.
I am gonna get started building a hatcher. No need to add nasty to ugly on my incubator.
I hope this confidence in the Hideous-bator is not OVERconfidence!
Brinsea spot check. Has a very limited range but guaranteed to the tenth of a degree. Pricey, but to me it was worth it.
