"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Dang it I typed a whole long post & then a train came along & knocked my signal - & post - clean off the 'puter!

Yes, Cadjien - you can do that - or you can go to the dollar store & pick up a couple milk crates for $1 & use those - I did that for years & my chickens loved them.

Just jumped on to see what's going on, been running like a fool since first light. A guy came out at 6:30 to take down the 1/2 of our big pecan tree - wish ya'll could've seen him, I swear he was part squirrel! he's retired from a tree business & he shimmied up that big tree & had pieces of limbs flying in all directions! we used our tractor & pulled down a lot of limbs also, now it's safe to walk around underneath the remaining trees again & we sure have a lot of nice firewood if anybody needs any.

I'm busy setting up my foyer to be a "hospital room" so after our little dog has her surgery on Tues she will have a little bit bigger space than just her crate. I'm walling it off with a playpen & putting a rug in there & a nice big bed she can sprawl on w/her splint on her hind leg. This is going to occupy most of my time this coming week.

Stay tuned for some nice windows & doors I will be posting on Craigs List - boss gave me orders to take pics & move out displays & things that were ordered wrong hand, wrong size, etc. I'll take pics & get them posted this next week - all offers are welcome - will have some displays with cabinet knobs & pulls also. It's a good deal for us scavengers - we get not only the stuff but the lumber out of the display racks as well!

Man wish I had the extra funds I would definetly get some of that stuff if the price was right!!

Well thanks to Laura and Tony for going out of their way to get the ducks for Mike to Poplarville so that I could pick them
up for him. Met Mike about 11:00 and made the exchange so now he and his new ducks should be about home.
Wish it was to where we could have made it a little easier on him to get them and if we had not been so tied up in the
garden this week we probably could have.
We even had some pull up while we were unloading the ducks wanting to know what we had and were they for sale.
About 1/4of a mile from where we were is the Kentwood Livestock yard and there are people selling chickens there
on Saturdays.
We did have two escape from us while we were moving the ducks from my pen to Mike's pens butthey were
not too hard to catch. Now if he had not had Laura clip those wings it would have been a whole different ballgame.
Was wondering while we were going through the parking lot of the Kangaroo store if someone might be filming
with a phone to stick it on you tube...maybe not.
Mike it was nice meeting you and only wish I could have gotten them a little closer to you.
Harry

I'm glad that it all worked out.

Mike made it home with the babies all safe and sound. He said they were all banded and settling into their new pen splashing through the pond.

Glad to hear they are doin good.I think I'm gonna miss the pintail babies. They had been in my compound for the last few weeks and were growing on me....lol. I had them sweet and pretty much hand tame. They always ate out of my hand at suppertime...lol...

At least I know they went to a great place.Maybe they'll get lucky and get one of those awesome aviaries Mike likes to build. (hint hint)

We had a fairly smooth ride and transition.Except my oldest girl (4) doesn't do to well with long rides.

Cadjien... I use all kinds of things for nest boxes.I have old milk crates (more compliments of KAtrina) and rabbit nest boxes.Had a friend who got out of the rabbit biz,so I bought all his nest boxes off him.Originally just for bantams, but my silkies and bigger girls lay quite well in them.I think a 2x4 would work all the way around.I think if it's a 'busy' hen the egg may happen to get knocked out a lil easier. That happens a lot with My 'pro' made 4 hole nestbox, which the front of is about 2".

Ello everyone how have you all been well yesterday was my bday and my sweet darling hubby is making me a chicken coop lol almost done just need to finish the top yay then paint and flooring lol
