"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Gone for 3 days.. everything free ranged. no losses. Get home and was cutting up steaks (fyi winn dixie has t bones 4.99 lb 😳😳) on back porch overlooking the pond & drinking a beer ..watch a hawk smoke one of the teenage silkies. Dogs tore out after it. Called them off, they came back. As soon as they sat beside me it came smoked another one! Its these damn little hawks too. Not no full fledged big as a damn goose bird either. They wont touch the birds that free range with the ducks. But soon as these babies come out they nail one.

Well im out of the egg game for some time other than ducks… last Saturday morning we woke up to carnage. After finding 3 dead bodies in the coop, 2 beside the pond very close to the edge, another hurt badly in run thought i was gona have to put down . Safe to say a herd of coons got under the wire netting. At that point i was down to 2 less than a month old, a 4 month old close to laying, and the turken with bad leg.

They killed A copper maran rooster, lavender orp, olive egger, 2 silkies, a rir, and a 1 month old Olive.

Upon original inspection my ducks were good. On Tuesday I noticed the head drake was acting weak. And swimming to one side. Once i caught him tue nite his back looked busted up. partial bone protruding. Neck had bite marks all over it. He was still eating and drinking. I cleanrd it good, but Wednesday he was struggling to balance, resting beak on ground for stabilizing. Could tell didnt drink much water his voice was very raspy. When he wasnt standing like that was just laying down with neck stuck out.

hated to do it but had to end his suffering. 22lr to the brain at point blank and he crossed the other side. On Thursday one of the 1 month old was stone dead. I Had been worried about her since Birth amd struggle to survive.

so i rounded up the 10 eggs laid from the week and went to incubator . Im gona get some marans and olives next month, pretty much just keeep incubato going for nxt 3 months

so if any of yall have fertile eggs let me know what type!!

I might have Mille Fleur d’Uccle eggs this spring, don’t know if you want bantams though

i looked at millies several years ago. I love There color, but i cant do bantams here. Anything that small gets wiped out Fast even supervised free range and with a CGD . the speckle susex and russian orloff are Closests ive found to them on larger side.
