This was at LSU yesterday^^

Everyone good?

Heyy yall 🤣🤣 still alive?? Wow what a last few months. Lost my ENTIRE flock of around 30-35 birds, ranging from biddys to 3/4 yrs old. Culprits were fox, coon, and one or two from a hawk. Since then i trapped 2 coon, shot 3 , shot 4 fox, ( hopefully #5 tonite ) , trapped one.. yea i been busy. I started over about 3 or 4 months ago. Since then, i only get a straggler on the farm but i can normally kill them in a night or two now that i have cameras again.

i had to completely rebuild my coop around the base but nothing getting in now. Rock, aluminum siding, & buried poultry net. as of now i have 13 around 2 months old, 6 3.5 month old, 4 roughly 2 yr old that are laying, and still got 5 ducks.

sooo that brings me to this. Any of you have any blue, green, or olive layers? One of the layers i acquired went broody.. and i wana give her some eggs as she’s sitting on her production blue eggs now. But thats a brown layer. Thankd in advance

I have some one laying green and someone laying a light olive, you are welcome to a batch to set! I have a coupla shades of brown being laid, too. No blue eggs this year. Let me know when you are in the area and I'll hand them over. I was way busy at work then I sort of retired when the interest rates changed and the lump sum pension rates dropped out. $70K difference between retiring on May 31 versus June 1 so me and about 150 other people did the math and packed it in. Slowly learning how to not go to work. It's weird.

I have some bantams, Mom laid blue eggs (but turned out to be a serial chick killer and had to be culled, she was feral when I got her). She hatched a bunch of eggs earlier, but they are not at POL yet and about half are cockerels. Many have green legs. If you are interested in bantams, I can give you any pullets that lay a colored egg you are interested in, as well as bantam cockerels and I have a bantam Cock bird you can have if he throws colored eggs. We will know when the pullets start to lay. I am so sorry you had to go through this. How far are you from New Orleans? We love to take rides, especially in the Atchafalaya Swamp. Beautiful, peaceful place. You are lucky to be able to live there. :love

Awesome. I will catch up with you sunday or Monday; were heading to Morgan city now.

I pulled her 4 eggs shes sitting on and replaced with fakes so she doesnt go unbroody til i get back.

Ursuline; i cant do bantams . They wont cut it around here. Too many predators and i havent renewed my bird removal perMit so mr green jeans wuld love to see me roll one without it..

I have a house / camp (grew up in
It then it became the camp once move to central) on the river between krotz springs & bute la rose. Ive never really kept birds there bc im only there once or twice a week. The gators would def get them and coyotes. No way i could build a pen its too wet. I have free ranged therr but its birds past there prime and just let them live there life out .

My main pen is at the house in central. 30x30 run , 1/2 acre pond beside it for the ducks. Im in the rural woods so ive dealt with predators there my whole life but mostly been able to keep them at bay.

For almost 10 yrs i had one / two fox that stayed close, never bothered me. Then all of a sudden in the last 6
Months it became an all out war when some more moved in and started messing with the coop. At that point all friendship deceased and the coonass came out in me., i broke out traps and started handling stuff cajun justice style

I’m moving to more mid city area next year and can’t take my babies :( I *may* be able to take a couple d’Uccle girls but who knows.

Anyway, I’ll have 4 standards (2 close to year old EEs, a red star, and a RIR) to rehome in about a year if anyones interested.
