Good morning everyone. I woke up and opened up all of the coops already. It's kinda humid out this morning. Supposed to be a 50% chance of rain and only 89 degrees. I hope it does rain, so I that I can stay in bed all day.
The only downfall about trying to stay in bed all day is because if I'm in bed, I can't read what ya'll are posting, so I'll be missing too much. So I guess I have to stay up.
I wanted pancakes and syrup this morning but I forgot to buy some milk and I think I'm out of syrup. Dumb me. Looks like I'll have to go out to run to the store this morning. Today is clean up day as well, so I will be dusting, mopping floors, cleaning the bathrooms, washing linen, etc. Love it.
The chicken yard definitely looks thinned out with the ducks being gone. I started counting the number of males that have to be processed. When I got to 30, I QUIT counting.
I'm thinking that will be an all weekend long, unless we get started about 6:00AM. What do you all think the processing time is for 1 duck? I want them skinned, so that should take less time right? I'll probably give a few ducks to a few people. My neighbor will get a duck. I give her a dozen duck eggs every few weeks. She loves duck. Will probably give a couple co-workers a duck. A couple of my customers will probably get a duck as well.
The turkeys were at it again this morning. I don't know what the deal is with them and that rooster but they are after him again.
They will have to work that out today.
Does anyone need any egg cartons? My stack is back up to 500+ egg cartons. They are in the garage. Mike, did you use all of the egg cartons that I gave you a while back? I surely could have given you 100 more. GEESH!
Did anyone hear anything about new regulations requiring egg farms to make some changes which will increase the price of eggs for Consumers? I briefly heard the Louisiana Farm Report on yesterday but I didn't get all of the details. I have been looking for more info online to see what's going on. If anyone has the link, please let me know.
UPDATE: I found it.
Well, I hope that everyone had a restful night last night and a productive day today. Beware of rain today.
