"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Gracie, those sheep are just adorable! I'm wondering too why you don't keep the little ram for breeding?

Your sebbies are sure looking good! Your saddleback (2nd in front) sure has some very nice markings. Is it male or female?

OK enough!! Now I am hungry for duck. Im on a diet and Im starving for them now.

Good morning everyone. I woke up and opened up all of the coops already. It's kinda humid out this morning. Supposed to be a 50% chance of rain and only 89 degrees. I hope it does rain, so I that I can stay in bed all day.
big_smile.png
The only downfall about trying to stay in bed all day is because if I'm in bed, I can't read what ya'll are posting, so I'll be missing too much. So I guess I have to stay up.

I wanted pancakes and syrup this morning but I forgot to buy some milk and I think I'm out of syrup. Dumb me. Looks like I'll have to go out to run to the store this morning. Today is clean up day as well, so I will be dusting, mopping floors, cleaning the bathrooms, washing linen, etc. Love it.

The chicken yard definitely looks thinned out with the ducks being gone. I started counting the number of males that have to be processed. When I got to 30, I QUIT counting.
th.gif
I'm thinking that will be an all weekend long, unless we get started about 6:00AM. What do you all think the processing time is for 1 duck? I want them skinned, so that should take less time right? I'll probably give a few ducks to a few people. My neighbor will get a duck. I give her a dozen duck eggs every few weeks. She loves duck. Will probably give a couple co-workers a duck. A couple of my customers will probably get a duck as well.

The turkeys were at it again this morning. I don't know what the deal is with them and that rooster but they are after him again.

They will have to work that out today.

Does anyone need any egg cartons? My stack is back up to 500+ egg cartons. They are in the garage. Mike, did you use all of the egg cartons that I gave you a while back? I surely could have given you 100 more. GEESH!

Did anyone hear anything about new regulations requiring egg farms to make some changes which will increase the price of eggs for Consumers? I briefly heard the Louisiana Farm Report on yesterday but I didn't get all of the details. I have been looking for more info online to see what's going on. If anyone has the link, please let me know.

UPDATE: I found it.

Well, I hope that everyone had a restful night last night and a productive day today. Beware of rain today.

I put tuna fish in my traps and I put them out twice a week. Theres always something new coming through. If you have dogs, bring them back by your chickens and let them pee on the fence posts, etc. It helps deter predators also.

Hey, I found a few things that you can get to use for your chickens with your Academy gift card if you haven't used it already. I know that you made some waterers and feeders for your hens, so if you want to get a dog waterer and use it for our chickens, you can. Here is a direct link.

Waterer

Tarp

Dog house that can be used for nesting box for broody hens

Owl decoy to deter hawks, etc. I'm not a big fan of decoys because I don't want my chickens to get comfortable being around an Owl decoy and then not fear them.

Just a few ideas although you may not be interested in any of these.

I tried to take a few pics of the guineas. They move so fast, so the pics aren't as good as I would have liked them to be. Kinda blurry.

They are getting bigger, so now I have to add a run to their Guin Pen so that they can use the run as added space. I'm thinking about perhaps a 30 foot run . That should be enough space for now. I probably won't let them roam with the others for a few more months.

Good morning! boy Julia, those guineas grow fast, don't they? They are sure pretty!

Very humid & overcast here; hope we get some rain today. I'm fixing to go turn my flocks out for the day. Then have to catch up on laundry. I'll make a pass by the dollar store & pick up some tuna for my traps; thanks for the tip! Have a good one everybody!

Morning Everyone...Wake up!!!!! Darn it..if me and Julie can't sleep neither can ya'll....lol....

Doesn't look like it's going to be very productive here again today. We did luck out yesterday and got rid of some excess roosters and rabbits. Lost a couple babies overnight, the wind blew the rain into the run where I put them. They have been out there for a couple weeks now and are plenty old enough to have come out the brooder, but decided to huddle up in the corner by the door from some reason.Rain got most of them wet, uhhh. Can't wait until they start roosting, but I think all my babies are roost challenged.I have 4-6 mos old who still like to huddle IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKIN yard at night.I started kicking them into the open coop at night and have free access to feed in there.I think some of them are getting the idea,BUT STILL NO ROOSTING!

Making preparations for a new addition.Hubby is supposed to be getting one of his old dogs back.We let him go to a friend a couple years ago while we were working so much and trying to get started on the yard and building the house.Didn't have a fence up at the time or anything and the neighbor decided to let his stuff run loose and all over the neighborhood. One of his huskies would come over here and attack my dogs.Got tired of it,let some of the dogs go.Got past the clearing, building, fencing and now one is coming home.

Well..gotta get up and going.Girls are up and I gotta go make strawberry

waffles.....lol.... With syrup....
