"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

About $16 dollars for 50lbs.
Yea I mix it to get my protein right where I want it. My game fowl feed that I buy is called Thunder Bird its protein is only a little over 14% so it takes 10lbs of catfish pellets at 32% to boost my feed to 17%. But if you want you can just throw in like 5lbs per 50lbs of laying pellets I could do the math for you if I knew what you feed.

here's a site with the formula for figuring protien % when mixing feeds
http://www.lionsgrip.com/protein.html

That catfish food sounds interesting gonna check into it surely has to be better than soy meal as a booster for sure

Jeff

Thanks for the link. I know what my project is for tomorrow. I will be checking this out.

This is great information. Over the course of the last couple of months, I have been trying to "find" the best recipe for my birds because the feed store that I was buying tons of feed from no longer carries that kind of feed. So, I have been stuck buying this and buying that and it's not consistent, in addtion to not being the % of protein that I want them to be on. I will have to study this and see if I can come up with a nice protien feed for all of my birds, ducks, geese and turkeys. The peas get their own type of feed that is specifically for them and no one else.

Thanks for the links. I appreciate that.

No I haven't,.. but my Nanny ( grandmother) used to make it. she said it was good for her blood pressure and her blood sugar. I haven't heard anyone mention it in years. How are you going to make it?

I'm drying some leaves now, and plan to steep them for 20 minutes or so later in the week. If i really like it, I'll raid all my family/friends fig trees

I've been considering passionfruit tea. The vines grow all over my property and there are blooms that can be brewed in addition to the leaves.

Awesome! I do use my passion flowers! It's a great sedative and nerve tonic,.. I grind it up in the Magic Bullet after drying and use it as a tea. I like to combine it with Skullcap and Valerian for a super relaxing tonic and sleep aid and it's also great for my heart. I give it to the flock in times of stress to mellow them out a bit,..sadly,..I no longer have Valerian,.. the little druggies got to my patch in the garden and ate it to the ground! I swear they were smiling all day!

I am really interested in how palatable the fig leaf tea is,.. I have access to an organically managed Brown Turkey fig tree,.. If it's not tasty,. I Dr. it up with Spearmint!

I agree Julie,. I have been looking for a better recipe and when I saw the good color in his birds,.. I had to have his secret,. I am still concerned about the soy in it though ,.. almost all soy grown in the USA is now GM ,.. don't know what's in that stuff,.. almost no long term testing has been done,.. but the corn is that way too now,.. so whatcha going to do?

Well, I've just had my first passionflower tea/infusion. I took one big (fresh) flower and steeped it for a while. The flower turned white, the water green! Not very tasty, but mild enough.

Cool! I use the leaves too,. I'm telling ya ,. that spearmint makes everything taste good, even passion flower,... and it's good for the digestion,..I actually buy it in bulk,. I have it all over the yard but I think what I buy tastes better( http://www.bulkherbstore.com/ ) I've used it forever and mixed it with peppermint for a tea to stop nausea ,..

So one day my niece said her tummy hurt and asked me for some "nauseated" tea,..
