Hatch update: The final tally for my hatch is 14. Half are brown leghorns and half are OEGBs. I helped a few out of the shell knowing that I wasn't supposed to do it. They seem to be doing ok. Several pipped but didn't hatch. Humidity is definitely the culprit. I will not be hatching indoors again. Outside is just too hot right now so I will wait until the Fall to try again. I think I will get some turkeys if I get my back acre fenced by then. Until then I will just enjoy what I've got and be thankful that some hatched.
 
Wow,.. I'm gone a few days and ya'll have posted 12 pages! Missi, I was so upset reading about how you found your poor rooster I was near tears and then I got to the end and we were so happy he was OK,. Yay Julie!

Cadjien_De_Louisiane I know you enjoyed those free ranging chickens,.. isn't it great to see them happy and scratching and clucking,.. it's almost soothing,.. like watching fish in an aquarium,..


Mgui35.. sorry about your hatch,.. I agree,.. too hot to be hatching,.. got some in the bator now only because they were graciously given to me and I couldn't pass them up,.. candled and saw many broken air cells,..

Terri Ann,.. Olivia and I are making Pear Butter today,.. it sure would go well on your bread!

We have yet to dry out since we flooded,.. can't get the grass cut,.. it's so yucky,.. I just hope those that need it are getting some of this daily rain.

Well.... Day 2 of colic. I don't know if he's doing any better or not. He's not as hyper and kranky as he was yesterday. May be just the dope in his system. He's had enough drugs stuck in him to make a crackhead drool.he's picking at the grass once in awhile and im pumping him with oil to lube and water to keep him hydrated. Waiting on the local feedstore to open so I can pick up some shavings for his stall. He's just kinda chill right now.

he's friendly now and loves to be rubbed and he doesnt have to be kept inside . I gotta give him away because I can't keep him outside and he needs to go outside e is litter boxed trained just my trailer isn't the biggest and I have no where to hide it and with all of the family illnesses I just won't be able to leave him out og his kennel all day . So if anyone wants him ya can have him just let me know and I would greatly appreciatate it if yLl asked peoe that y'all know he's about 13 weeks old
