"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Good Morning! It is HOT this morning. I've been out to feed this morning and already had to change me shirt because I was drenched in sweat. I am so ready for a little fall weather. It doesn't even have to be a true cold front just a little cool breeze would be nice.

Sending my prayers to all on the East Coast. Terri, I hope your friends in New York make it through safely and with no damage to property.

The bad thing is that if they haven't had a storm in many, many years the chances of lots of damage goes up. Lake Charles had not had a hurricane for 20+ years, give or take, when Hurricane Rita came through and it was devastating. Shortly afterward, Hurricane Ike came through and not much damage reported although it did hit further to the West of us. By the time Ike came a year later nearly everyone had new shingles, all of the weaker trees had already fallen, and all of the "dead wood" had already blown down.

WhiskeyBay, ya'll have fun celebrating your little girl's birthday today.

Well, I have to catch up on my chores today. Also, need to catch up with Gracie this weekend to get two geese.

I, too, am praying for everyone on the east coast. I always have anxiety attacks when there is a hurricane brewing regardless of where it is going. Hope you got your car and dogs washed today Terri.

Hot is right Twiley. It was so cool early this morning but when the sun came out, the sweat started rolling down my face. I'm looking forward to the fall weather as well.

Well, we were able to process 15 ducks today. The hardest part was catching them. We will still have more to go but it's not as many as before. So, today was a good day. I can't complain.

I did give some cleaned ducks to my dear friends and neighbors who are always showing generosity by always giving me fresh vegetables from their gardensm canned foods or always offering a nice gesture of friendship to me. They were so happy when I called them to tell them that I would be dropping over free ducks. When I got to their homes, they insisted that they pay me but I refused. As they went to the back room to get their purse/wallet to get some money, I made a run to my truck and left. As I was driving off, I could see them in my rear view window waving for me to go back as I sped off down the road. I honked the horn at them and went to the next drop off.

I think we will process the rest tomorrow or during the week.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

I got my brownie points today when I stopped by the store & a lady came up behind me in one of those motorized carts so I asked her if I could help unload her basket for her & she was so tickled that I asked... it's the little things, ya know? I left just being grateful that I was walking out on my own two legs & not having to use a walker.

I just talked to my friend in NY & they are fixing to flood. They can see the storm surge starting to creep towards their house. They have everything possible moved upstairs & up off the ground in the basement & they have a pump so hopefully they won't get too much damage from this. I just feel so bad for them, for anyone who has to deal with this hurricane. My other friends who live in Chesapeake evacuated yesterday to their son's home in West Va. so they are safe at least altho no idea what they'll come back to.

Brings back a lot of memories of Katrina & Rita & Ike & Gustav, for sure.

And there's ANOTHER tropical storm coming right after Irene; Jose is now churning along looks like almost the same direction.
