"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Quote:
We got ours - never had any reactions to any of them, & the one year we skipped both of us came down w/a miserable case of the flu -- both of us sick in bed for a solid week -- it was horrible!

I have known several people who did react to the shot & don't get it. I can tell you they changed the formula this year -- it burned & was sore the day after, which it hasn't done in a few years.

On the hop here! tomorrow morning back to the working world so I have to get everything caught up here at home. I will be SO GLAD when Jim "graduates" to a walking cast -- we still have six weeks of hop-hop-hop & no weight bearing on his broken leg, so my chore load is still doubled plus the extra care for him right now. Oh well, this too shall pass...

Have a good Sunday everybody!

Hope you have a great first day at work!

I've had the same problem for years, then moved into my in-law's 'gameroom' while my place is being finished. They have two little window units in there, and I can barely keep my eyes open past 8:00 while those things are running. This all ended a few nights ago when it got cold out. Since then I've had to track down a clock and remove the batteries, located the sound of dripping water (deep freeze), and listened to the whining of electrical appliances and cars on the highway for hours while trying to doze off. I tell you, tonight I may just turn them on again to get some rest.

I can relate to this...We usually sleep with a box fan running. The other night,DH had it down on low for some reason, which is REALLY quiet.Over this I could hear the dogs barking, the crickets chirping ,the wind blowing...EVERYTHING!!! and so could he! And I cant stand when he cant sleep...lol... I got soooo freakin aggrevated I had to turn it up on high and bundle up so I counldnt hear anything and he could sleep...lol...

Back hopping here a lil bit too....Got a couple lil piggies two days ago....Beavis and Butthead.... Bottle babies.....I originally had one bottle and feeding one at a time while the other screamed bloody murder. So I went and bought another to feed both at once,well...turns out they want to be 'pigs' and fight over the pink bottle.... go figure...lol....

Finally got the back pretty much where I want it...except for have the dirt completely spread and some bushes out for landscaping touchups etc....but got the basics done.Stall, coops, slab... etc. Just got the kennels and dog yard to do,get the garden started, then move on to the front yard.Moved the boat, dropped in the koi, going to start working on the landscaping for it slowly.. ugghhhh does it ever end...lol.... I think I lost my Japanese weeping cherry tree

when DH busted the pool.30,000 gallons of saltwater probably didnt agree with it....Some of the limbs are still soft and green inside but hasnt had any leaves or anything in a while.I'm going to leave it be over winter and all in hopes!!!

It's set just to the front corner of the boat I'm using for the koi pond.I will set just inside the landscape timbers I will be surrounding the whole pond area with over the next few months. That way it will shade about 1/4 or so of the back side and I will have a sitting area build into it.

Well, time to feed Beavis and Butthead....back later...

We're so bad about the "white noise" and "gotta have cool air blowing on us" that when we travel, we take a portable Vornado fan with us!

at least I know we're not the only "weird" ones now. In fact, maybe we aren't weird at all; maybe it's just a "La-yer" thing!

I found out how my 2 black hens keep getting out -- they simply flap their little chicken wings & fly over the six foot fence like songbirds! Now I never would've thunk those two little chunky chickens could fly like that-- but I saw them do it this morning - so now I know for sure!

I will have to do some wing-clipping just as soon as I can get Jim stabilized enough to hold the flashlight so I can locate black birds in a dark coop at night.

I swear I can't spell 'kat' today.

I was thinking about buying one of those steel carports and converting it into a chicken coop. Any opinions? I was thinking about using the covered area as the coop with runs extending out the sides. I'm thinking 2 runs on each side with a little space in the back for feed and sheep to get out of the weather. Thoughts... suggestions?

Actually a couple friends of mine have one converted into a chicken house. One of those bigger sized ones you usually see advertised with the metal buildings.... They have the OEGB that they actively breed and show.Along the sides they have brood/flight pens and down the middle they conditioning pens.Really nice setup actually....

Not sure why so many people are stopping by this weekend to buy animals but I'm having to to tell people that I'm sold out for the year. I have about 49 ducks left but they are too young to sell and out of those I need to keep about 20 which are my original breeding flock. I have about 3 extra male turkeys but they are not really extra because I don't want to sell them. I may have 5 roosters to sell but that's about it. This one guy wanted to buy all of my guineas but I said NO!!!!!!! Oh well.

I guess that's a good thing.
