Ducks are a hot commodity. Its not surprising to me that they sold quickly. Now that you have sold that many, the word is surely out and you will have a hard time keeping up. Im still interested in those eggs for Spring, so keep raising those ducks. As a side note my olive eggers are hatching out right now and there is a lot of peeping coming from my incubator. Hatching stuff just never gets old.

I was starting to wonder if I would ever sell what I needed to lessen my flock but I did. And you are right, the word is out. I have gotten a lot of calls.

You are on my 2012 order calendar for your free eggs. I won't forget you. Just let me know about 1 week in advance when you are ready. I have relatives in your area, so I can take a trip on the weekend to visit my relative and to deliver the eggs to you, so you don't have to drive so far to get the eggs.

How is the hatching on your end?

Sounds great!

NOPE!!! nobody home!!!! GO awya!!! lol...I can't even spell this morning....geez....screw it....lol.. Just got in from feeding all the piggies.the hooved ones, the pawed ones, the feathered ones, the scaled ones, and the literal ones...lol.... and it's still cool out!...lol... Took a few pics of the first pen I opened. The Silkie/SG pen doesn't get turned out with everyone else because for some reason the just dont get along with the Buffs and the BCM and they have babies right now so I dont want to let them out with the other Orps.Soooo I let them out first in the morning for awhile then put them back up and let the rest of the wild children out.I took some pics.will post in bit. Got a lil upset for a few minutes because I thought I had mistakenly sold one of the blue SG pullets I had produced this year.I produced a really nice blue and a really nice black that I've been so proud of and I didn't see her when everyone came out.I sold a young blue 'roo' the other day, because I have several and because he had been pizzin me off.I didnt see her so I thought I had accidentally grabbed the wrong bird or something!!! then just as I was about to come inside I saw her pecking around the coop door. She must have been up in the nest boxes with some of the hens setting snoozin or something...cause I noticed mama hen came out with the babies too.whew...

darn hens!!!!!

Well bout to head out for a feed run.My local hatchery friends have begun carrying feed and they have layer for $11,$12, and $13 a bag! I've been using the $12 bag (upon their suggestion) and so far am happy with the way the birds are starting to look. They seemed to went through a late molt.Since I started feeding this feed a few weeks ago my pens filled up with feathers like a varmen got in there.I got reall worried for a lil bit,but I also knew they hadn't really molted this year. But since the feathers have started filling in they are looking wonderful. So bright and shiny. My buffs are turning golden again.I had sold them to a friend who lived around the corner and he let them turn into poop (scuse my french),so I got them back. They were all creamy and yellow looking. Now they are putting on weight and molted and starting to shine and almost beautiful again. My black silkies actually have a greenish hue to them! I've never seen that in a silkie!
Unfortunately the silkies are the only ones laying right now,but I guess maybe the weather has the Buffs and BCM screwed up? The buffs are less than a year old,the BCM I honestly don't know how old they are. They came from a friend and are supposed to be around a year, but I havent had them too long and have had some pretty screwy weather patterns the last few weeks not to mention a LONG ride here.Plus I got rid of the original rooster because he was lazy and added a couple new boys ...lol...so I guess I'll give them a lil time.

I'm home! I quit that job. They worked me 9 1/2 hours yesterday & wanted me to bring work home (I refused).
I told them this morning I was sorry but it wasn't going to work out. I can't be out of pocket 9 1/2 hours when my husband can't even walk right now. Until he gets into a walking cast, I'm staying put right here. And after that (six weeks) I'm going to find something part time, but I do not intend to go back full time anymore.

Today's my birthday, and I'm giving myself the gift of freedom. Now, and for the future as well.

My parents aren't getting any older, & I'm an only child, there is only me to depend on. My animals depend on me. My aging aunt across the street, who is widowed, depends on me. And I need to be within easy reach for all of them.
