"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I had one like that & cooler worked better for me -- they ran a day later hatching but at least they didn't cook in the shell -- did have a couple of sticky chicks but that was not a big deal -- after they fluffed out & were in the brooder, a warm washcloth took care of the sticky shell bits. I had one run too hot & lost several & egg-autopsy showed them fully formed so I think they got too big, too fast & died before pipping.

Thanks Terri.

Welp, I'm hoping I didn't fry the eggs, when I got home it was 111 degrees.

I had it in my shop and should have turned the ac on in there.

I've now moved it in my laundry room so I'm hoping for the best!!

Its good to know you are pleased with them! The two boys I still have are looking very nice. I don't think people give the smooth breasteds enough credit. They are exceptionally beautiful!

Lordy Julie that would cost you a fortune!!

Tell me about it. I can't afford having ALL of my birds tested but I think I will have maybe 25 select older birds tested to see what results I get. My thinking is that if the older birds are negative, then the birds hatched after them should be ok, I guess?

. Because if the older birds have anything, they would have transferred it to the others but then again, none of my birds are sick or have ever showed any signs of illnesses . Mr. Turkey was the only one with his neck but all of the vets ruled out any diseases as did the state test. They seem to think it's an injury.

I guess I'll talk to my state vet and see what he suggest. Dr. Barrington also suggested DNA testing to determine any AI.

mmmmmm........... let me know what you find out. But I agree on your way of thinking. To me if there all together then they should all have nothing or all have the same thing!!

Are you making her debut at the Alexandria show here? I go every year! used to show it when I showed but that was years ago, but still like to go hang out & see the action & peruse the vendor booths -- I'll come cheer you on if you're here! The Alex show is always the last week in January -- it 's on the Jack Onofrio circuit. I'm hoping to go to NY in Jan & cheer on my dear friend & breeder of our Cockers at Westminster - her boy's in 6th place right now & climbing, so hopefully he'll make that magic #5 & get an invite!

Incubating question!! If you had a bator that went one or two ways.. Would you rather it be a little cooler or a little hotter???

I had one like that & cooler worked better for me -- they ran a day later hatching but at least they didn't cook in the shell -- did have a couple of sticky chicks but that was not a big deal -- after they fluffed out & were in the brooder, a warm washcloth took care of the sticky shell bits. Edit: thank you Julie for the NPIP reminder!!! I also want to get mine tested for AI this year & they told me last year you do have to pay for that one but I don't remember how much.

No I was planning on just starting her out with all bullies,so going with ABKC. What is the Alex show? AKC or UKC? AKC doesn't accept APBT only AST,she has a good bit of Amstaff breeding, but she is 'PR' UKC and ABKC.I got pics of her dad today.I'll post some when I get a chance. He's a big puddin.... Took him to the beach to try to get pics and thought he was gonnaa stroke trying to get away from the water...lol....
