At what age can yall tell the boys from the girls? We bought 1 pair and I am pretty sure I know which is which and then we bought 2 more, unsexed and not sure. One is pied and one is white. We are pretty sure the pied is a boy and thought the white was a girl, but kinda questioning the white one... They are 7-8 months old.![]()
With the whites, you really can't tell for sure until they hit breeding age (2 yrs) unless you have them DNA tested. Since I'm keeping them regardless, it doesn't matter - although I really REALLY want just one to be a male since I think white male peacocks are sooo beautiful!
Of my pieds, I know Romeo is a male -he is going to be 3 this year & my other pied is a Black Shoulder Silver Pied male & the more knowlegeable breeders in the pea forum told me that when I posted his pic to see just what was he - he was born a solid yellow chick & so I thought he was going to be white like the rest but when he started feathering out he turned & still is turning all kinds of crazy colors! He is about six months old now.
Yea, and I'm leaning towards male with mine because I see him fanning ALL the time. But as Terri said, I really won't know until they hit breeding age.
