Wonderful Jeff! Do you like your NH better than your RIRs? Are they comparable in size? They almost look bigger in some pics I've seen.

Let me know when you are ready for your pair of peas - I'll have to move them to the "big" pen in a few more weeks so I can free up my grow-out pen for my Welsummer chicks. LOL - "musical poultry"!

Thanks for the recipe Garilyn!
Good luck w/your layers luvmychicken!

Roxanne I found one little item I can donate for a door prize or raffle - looking around to see what else I can add to it. I won't be able to help since I'll be swamped with tax season but I can do that much at least! Also do you still want ink cartridges? We're still keeping them for you.

i went to the swap meet in breaux bridge yesterday, a few people out there, but i was hoping to meet some of you on here, no one had heard of BYC! i got to hold my very first chick, she was a rhode island red and had never been touched by human hands before. she was only a week old and she went to sleep in my hand, i didn't want to leave without her! i came home empty handed, but on cloud nine! Tim had black copper and splash marams, buff orps. and the rhode island reds. i saw button quail that were so tiny and their little bitty eggs too. i had such a great morning and i even knew more about chickens than some of the owners! I was honored to meet more chicken lovers! Tim also has lavender orps if anyone is interested! hope your rain has gone away now, it is a muddy mess out there. hubby is doing an angiogram on wed. since they found mild blockage in his heart arteries. this has delayed the surgery on his lung cancer! he was not happy about that at all but that is the way it goes. hopefully he can see a pain management dr. in January! so maybe by spring i will finally get my chicks!

I was wondering how your husband is doing. Have him on our prayer list for the angiogram Wed.

Hello all! New here and was wondering if anyone could tell me where to find some Golden Cuckoo Marans or hatching eggs in LA. I'm in Baton Rouge. Thanks! Samantha
Sorry, I haven't a clue, but if you put a Black Copper rooster over your Blue splash Maran Hen, you will get a Blue Copper Maran, which sell in Hatcheries for around $20 for a day old chick, according to Meyers ! Welcome to La-yers !

and to La-yers !

LOL @ breathing to the bag. 20 minutes? You are GOOD!!! It takes me an hour to process ANYTHING! I'm super slow. I would starve to death if people were waiting on me for dinner.

Take pics of your meal so we can see that tasty bird. Good job!
If anyone was waiting on you for dinner, THEY would starve to death, too ! That's because you are a PERFECTIONIST !! LOL

Are pluckers expensive? Because I'm cheap.

Hold onto your britches, DH is making me one for under $100 plus a recycled clothes dryer and some odds and ends he has laying around his shop! You know all those ducks I will be processing in Jan. or Feb. along with those meat birds, I'm raising? He hates processing poultry!

Oh my goodness! Some wonderful person just gave me a quart of candied pecans!

Lucky you !!! I love pecans. You must be a real good girl for Santa to visit so early !

Hey there Terri I still got to put some wire back up to have a fully enclosed area for those peas but it wouldn't take me too much to do it though, but it'll still yet be a little bit before these NHs are up and going good enough to collect from but getting closer it seems. I may be headed over to the machine shop soon to bring another engine block for some work to be done on it. I could get the peas then or when I get the eggs collected up I'll holler atcha and you can bring them then, whatever will be better for you, you need the room it sounds. I'm putting the rush on these NH girls to get it in gear, its still up to them to 'geterdun' LOL

Oh on the liking one better than the other, I like the NH a tad bit better but not by much as I have been a fan of RIRs for a long time. I like the NHs for their color/looks. RIRs are the best all-around type though to me. I didn't help much there did I LOL I think the NHs lay better than my RIRs or my BRs are going to do, 'bout like the Delawares do.

thank you so much for the prayers, I am really worried about this procedure, we don't think it is necessary! but the cardiologist is insisting that he has to do it, i think he needs more Christmas money! It is not a safe procedure to do. Please keep praying that everything will turn out ok. He goes in wed. morning at 11. He is highly allergic to the iodine dye that they will use and is medicating him heavily to keep the dye from affecting him, prednisone, benadryl and tagamet. I wish i could have met some of the great people that support me on BYCs. supposed to get really cold soon and i'm hoping that Bart's son will come over today and help me collect some firewood. thanks again for all the love and support that you give me even though i don't have any chickens yet! Hugs!

Awww that is so sweet of you thank you :) I know several are going to be donating a few items as well and maybe some cages. Yes still want the ink cartridges, I just need to get my but up there and get them. It will be sometime after Christmas and I'll bring my girls up with me. They love road trip especial when it involves Alex. They think they are going to the mall each time we are up there.
