"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Fellow La-yers,

I need some help.
We lost a turkey (about 2 months old) yesterday. Checked them in the morning and everyone was fine, but that afternoon there was obviously something wrong. He was all puffed up, sleepy eyed, lethargic, no eating or drinking. We brought him into the shed and offered electrolytes in water and went to buy syringes (of course we have Tylan, but no syringes) by the time we got back he was dead.

Today, I checked on the birds after getting home from work and one of the Peas has the same look about him. I just scooped him up and brought him inside in the bathroom and gave 1cc injectable Tylan 200. (I say "he" loosely, b/c all the peas are about 9-10 months old)

I offered everyone that was in the pens near them yogurt and electrolytes this afternoon. What else can I do? I know I am forgetting something... It's easy to read about all this stuff all the time but then when it comes to my birds I panic and forget everything! ha

Thanks in advance

Maddi

Exactly! I agree with you. Highway robbery. I would NEVER pay that much for a coop. Well, I would NEVER pay for a coop period. I recycle everything. I love getting used materials and making some out of it. Only way to go for me.

and I thought you had ordered this Chicken Coop for yourself....

if not it's not to late....go ahead treat yourself...lol

just beyond crazy to think they may have sold some at that price.....

I'm cheep cheep cheep. :gig I'm trying to get stuff for my next pea pen and chicken pens. :)
No I didn't buy that coop. I have built mine from a lot of recycled material. I got the run covered today. My step mom gave me a bunch of old tin. So now to build a new door. I hope the rain holds off long enough tomorrow. So I can do that. Btw. Low the new chickens terry.

Well, naturally the sun finally came out now that it's Monday & I'm back at work! Golly it's cold though!

Brought water to the Wellies in their outside brooder this morning - all of the faucets are covered up so had to lug it from the house - right when I put it inside the bottom came off (some idiot didn't secure it properly) & it slooshed all over me! so of course had to jog back up to the house & refill it & back out to their brooder & then go sweep up where I'd tracked in wet leaves & mud from the back door to the kitchen.

nice, real nice!

Even my young male peas are fanning like crazy so maybe we'll have an early spring!

Ironic note: Ash Wednesday - the start of Lent - is the day BEFORE Valentine's Day this year. Somebody apparently doesn't want me to even think of being tempted by chocolate!
Hummmmmmm... I wonder who? LOL

Good morning everyone. It was a chirpy night last night. 2 poults have hatched from the eggs that I picked fresh. 4 of the refrigerated eggs have been rocking and pipping since last night. All 4 of them have zipped. Now, it's just a waiting game. I have a total of 6 refrigerated eggs in the bator. If the refrigerated eggs hatch, I know what I'll be doing in the future. I will keep everyone posted.

They were refrigerated for about 2 weeks. Not that long.
