"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

What is the date on the March show? Is there a show schedule somewhere? I'm just getting back into chickens after about 10 years and am really excited about it. I'm in Shreveport and would love to get in contact with some show people in the area. I am a Wyandotte lover and looking for a good quality speckled Sussex rooster breeding age or close. I appreciate everyone being so nice on this site. I think I'm gonna love the chicken scene. Lol.
Hello and
welcome-byc.gif
!

When they start laying....I will have

White Marans

Golden Cuckoo Marans

Wheaten, Lav, Blk Ameraucana

Penciled Rocks

Columbian Rocks

Cream Legbar

Bantam Columbian

I love the Marans, Ameraucanas, and Cream Legbars. Will you be selling eggs and/or chicks of the Cream Legbars? Also, are your Marans French?
Yes. They are all French. Maybe, once I see how they lay.

Magnolia Classic Poultry Show - March 23rd at the Rapides Parish Coliseum. APA Judge Pat Malone from Tx. I have never shown...and most of my birds are "rare" and aren't recognized by the apa. I do have a giant of a gold laced wyandotte...wonder if I should try. I don't take rejection well. Ha! Perhaps I should just go watch and get a fell of it this time around. Here's a pic of this cockerel... he is only currently 24 weeks and the pullet behind him is from the same hatch. Look at the size difference! I think he has emu genes...

I also lost my lav orp roo. I have one coming from kraftyladies soon. She is in Florida. She is also NPIP certified and I just hatched some eggs from her. She would be a good start in getting new lav orps.

Contact/show info from the website for the show is:

Thanks! The craziest part is that I got rid of several roosters in the fall because I had too many birds and had to down size. I should have kept an extra one or two. Maybe if you get yours going, I can get eggs or chicks from you to raise another rooster. Or, if you have extra young roosters later this spring/fall I can buy one from you. Just a thought!

With regard to the Poultry Show, I wish that they would let us show geese. I have a very handsome Buff Saddleback Sebastopol gander, and a couple of nice Curly White Sebastopols that I'd love to show.

Hi all! Just digging out from all the rubble.

We've made a lot of progress on our remodeling project but not done yet.

Welcome to all new members. You'll enjoy this site.

I'm also interested in the chicken meet in March. Please give details.

I lost my Lavendar Orpington Rooster this winter and will be looking to replace him. Please let me know if you will have a Lavendar rooster at the meet in March.

Terri, I very sad to say that I lost all of my peacocks. I'm not sure exactly what happened but I suspect possibly a bacterial infection. They all died within a week timeframe. I think where I messed up is by putting them in a pen that I had previously housed ducks. Not sure -- my best guess. Very disappointing! So sorry that I lost your beautiful babies.

Thanks, Mike! I'll watch for the information. How are your sebbies doing? I lost my buff saddleback goose last year to a bone infection in her leg and a compacted crop. After three visits to the vet and a month of giving her daily meds she succumbed to the infection. However, I hatched a buff saddleback male from her before she died. That kinda messed me up for this year because now I can only hatch buff saddleback females -- well, at least, I HOPE to hatch buff saddleback females.

I'll catch up with you sometime soon to get the woodducks. We're still crazy busy trying to get everything done. It seems that my list keeps getting longer instead of shorter!!!
