"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Lots of us in this area. There is a swap in Hammond this Sunday and one in Covington in a couple weeks. What are you looking to get?

I would like a Plymouth Rock ,buff o, Easter eggers , maybe a silky, still debating on a rooster. I lost my chicks last summer to critters, big bummer! Still a novice at the chicken scene. But, going for it in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the hospitality

Could someone share some knowledge?lol

I have a hen (my Dominicker, "Mama D") who is older than the rest of my flock (approx. 3yrs.old) and she seems to be hiding from the rooster. She doesn't even want to come out to yard and eat with the other girls, she still enjoys free ranging tho . I also noticed that she has one eye that is swollen shut. I'm not sure if it's because she's been pecked or she's possibly sick. The rooster seems to always be tearing at her comb. She doesn't seem to have any other issues. . . I separated her just to be on the safe side and I'm giving her a antibiotic.

I read on another thread about Bronchitis - but she doesn't have any other symptoms, no goop, crust, or bubbles - should I panic yet or wait it out? And should I throw her eggs out?

HELP! Having a problem, breed my rabbit & she blessed me with 5 babies that I have to feed every 2 hours because she has no MILK! Has anyone ever experienced this before? And can tell me why she has not produced milk. She is taking care of the babies keeping them warm & cleaning them like a good mommy.

No coughing or sneezing? You'd know if she had bronchitis! Keep her separated until the eye heals or you find something else going wrong. Tossing the eggs depends on the antibiotic you're using--just look it up online if it doesn't say on the bottle and you'll find the info.

Maybe she's just a normal girl who needs a break from servicing her roo...
