Any backyard poultry raisers/processors near central Louisiana selling meat?

Not yet but it is on the list for Inglewood Farm for the not too distant future. I'll keep you posted as things progress!

I am definitely intrigued by the fermented feed thing!! I wonder if it would work on waterfowl? I may have to try it out.

Cotton Patch?! Did someone say Cotton Patch?!?! I would LOVE to have either a couple of goslings or eggs to hatch out!

I will try with my ducks and geese. I will do this this weekend. I'll let you know if any of my ducks or geese get sick or die from the fermented feed.

I was wondering about that. That is the only group that I would not feed to them at this time until we do further research. Let me know what thread your on in the pea section and I'll follow you. I"m curious to know as well. Good point.

Terri, there was something I wanted to ask you. I was thinking about it last night but for the life of me, I can't remember. I will post it when I remember. Old age is setting in I guess. :/

I'm going to wait & see how it goes with the chickens first, too. I don't dare risk my precious peas! They dont' eat that much anyhow. I searched a bit but didn't find anything on it.

I sure wish they'd start laying...fan, fan, fan that's all I see! shake & shimmy! Where's the eggs?!

OK gotta get outside & finish planting plants & make a feed store run before the rain gets here.

Yes John, I'll remember to get the fowl pox! it's on my list! which is in the car already!

and if you want to come help next week we're vaccinating 650 chicks at Inglewood - I can let you know what day. You'll get TONS of practice!

Same here. I go out every evening and check to see if there are any eggs. Nothing yet. :/ In a way, that's good because I still have goose eggs in the incubator. I think the first few eggs won't be fertile. What do you think Terri? Do you incubate the first pea eggs of the season or do you give it a week or so. I said the same thing about the turkey eggs and the first eggs of the season were ALL fertile. That will teach me to underestimate.

I can start a thread in the pea section and ask. I know at least 5 pea people will chime in.

X2. I don't have much of a flock, but recently bought stuff for worms, etc. (very expensive) but my real concern was about the "can't eat the eggs" warning. This looks like a real benefit to the chickens for just about everything but pox. I first heard about it from Brandy this weekend (Thanks Brandy for getting my brain going on this). Sadly, I need a 1-2-3 to do something, and, even better, a foto with everything measured for me. LOL I'm going to give it a try, too.
