"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I will. I go to Lake Charles about once a month, so when I plan a trip there, I will let you know and bring you a bottle (on the house - *in my bar-tending voice*) so you can have and try it.
You are too kind Julie! I might have to send you home with a couple silkie chicks as a thank you!

My strawberry wine is coming along just fine. :drool I will filter it in a couple of days and then the wait is on.
I think thats what I need cept I need a about a half gallon of Evan I'm sick as a dog right now with the crud I figure if Dr.Farmers receipe calls for a half pint of wiskey/2 aspirins and go to bed, then surely a half gallon would for sure make me passout and sleep plum through all the healing effects of the asiprin(lol) Huh? I haven't ever figured the "healing agent" in this concoction/cocktail other than just pure mind over matter LOL I feel as if someone reached down my throat and pulled a wad of sandpaper out my lungs/chest back up through my throat and nostrils. sorry for the detailed description but they won't let me say what I really feel like on here the censors delete it evertime, they must've never been ill before. Jeff
OH no. Sorry to hear that. What's wrong? A friend of mine was telling me that she had the crud also. I tell everyone my secret and this is no joke and I swear by it. I take 2 green tea extract tabs (with anti-oxidants) twice a day and drink 1 cup of hot green tea every day. I have not been sick in about 20 years. I don't catch colds, flu, sniffles, stomach ache, etc. And I guess my OCD and my fear of germs also helps because I am constantly washing my hands, wiping down my office phone, light switch, door handles, etc. etc. etc., don't take money from cashiers who have coughed in their hand and try to give me my change , oh, and I don't like touching people.    And what is EVAN? :idunno

If anyone is interested, this would be a great investment for protecting your animals and your yard. You can get this at Harbor freight or any other store. It records all day up to 2500 hours. You can rewind it to see who or what was on your property and if they stole anything. Can you say, "Smile For The Camera"? :D :frow For additional viewing, you can hook this to your "internet" and view this from your Smartphone or computer.

I have to work harder to get your birds for our trade off. Or cash--either way...I am wanting some sebbie babies! Beautiful! I'd love splash or the grey saddleback...

. Geez...I may be asking for a trio before I'm done.

How well do they get along with duc ks when they're free ranging?
I had a few of my adult sebbies running around with 6 Pekin Ducks for quite a while until I separated my geese for breeding season. The geese get along fairly well with the ducks, although, Like chickens, they will establish a pecking order. My geese always had first dibs on fresh water in the pools even though I had three pools (2 for geese and 1 for ducks). The geese always ran off the ducks until they were done with their fresh baths. Otherwise, they didn't get into each others business very much.

I love my geese! They are much more social than any other birds that I have. I have a few that will hang out with me when I sit outside. They're very sweet! My friendliest one is a male saddleback gander. I have him babysitting some of my babies right now because he is so sweet and is very well bonded with me. I have my babies learning from him. This year, I hand raised my goslings for the first six weeks then turned them over to my gander to keep them social and friendly.

This year I may not have a gray saddleback to offer. I have three saddleback ganders (2 that are gray split-to-buff, and one buff saddleback), however, of the three ganders it looks like I will only have goslings from one of them. Also, last spring I lost my buff saddleback goose (my avatar) so my saddleback production is off this year. I will probably be keeping the saddlebacks this year to regroup for next year. If I have saddlebacks available Gracie will have first dibs since I've already made that promised to her. However, most of my goslings are saddleback carriers. They will look white but carry the saddleback gene so when you breed them to another saddleback or saddleback carrier you can get some saddlebacks. Otherwise, I hope to have more saddlebacks next year. I will likely have some splashes available but right now I don't know if they'll be smooth or curly breasted. It takes a few weeks to determine for sure if they'll be smooth or curly breasted.

Hello,

New here...we've had chickens since October. We went to a corn maze before Halloween & there was a guy there with a little petting zoo set up, they were so cute! We came home with a white silkie & a polish crested chicken that's black & gold (she's my Saints chicken!) About a month or 2 later, we bought 2 rhode island reds from the feed store. We kept them inside in an ice chest with a heat lamp for a month or 2 while my husband built their coop. They're the coolest pets ever, each with their own personality. The reds have been laying eggs for probably 2 months, and the crested just laid her first egg a few days ago. I was so excited, I started thinking she was a boy, lol.

I look forward to learning more about raising chickens, because I'd love to eventually hatch some as a learning experience for my 3 yr old.

ETA: We live in Ponchatoula.
