"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Yeah I know it I'm bout a week or more behind on everthing Sandy. Since I been sick with the cruds I just do get the chores done much less anything else(as in making money) which has got to get back in the making again things are getting tight and thin around here. I got more to do than two people should have to do much less work in between time. LOL hoping to get caught up on a bunch this weekend,

I am having a miserable turkey hatch. One won't stand and the second hatched with only two toes on one foot. None of the others--even the chicken eggs in with them are trying to pip. Every deal I thought I had for Swedish Flower Hen pullets fell through so now I have to commence to setting eggs and waiting for them to grow up. Grrrrrr.

I have had a chicken with the intestine hanging out --but mine hatched that way. Three of them. I looked it up--caused by temperature spikes or drops that went on too long. I found online it said to use a damp qtip to push the intestine back in and bandaid it shut. I did...one survived and is healthy. It is a shame yours didn't make it.

OH NO !!!!!!!!!! Sorry to hear about your hatch. I wonder why this is happening.

The intestine hanging out sounds like my little guy (gosling) who didn't make it. He was so cute, too. :hit I did have a temp spike but it was from me falling asleep while they were cooling and leaving them out for 7 hours, so the temps went to at least 60 (temps inside my house) but only 1 had problems. All the others hatched. And I have a huge gosling (Baby Huey) That baby looks like he is 3 weeks old already. :/

Sorry again about your hatch. :hugs

Here are my final results from my last goose hatch of the year. Stick a fork in me cause I'm done.

I thought I had 6 fertile eggs, but I only had 5. 4 of them hatched, 1 was not fertile and the other was fully developed but was dead inside the shell AND it's bottom area (intestines?) were out of the shell. It was weird. So, the hatch wasn't too bad. 4 out of 5 hatched.

Now on to pea eggs. I have 4 eggs as of last night. If I get 4 more in the next few days, then I will commence to incubating pea eggs.

have you thought about buffalo gnats maybe? it's getting to be the time of year when they hatch - & they were very bad here last year.

Have not heard of them. We have to go out of town for 1.5 days, so when we return and they are all still cheeping, I'll check it out. I got some Cellular Silver from the vet and have been giving them that. Hopefully it will have some effect. They have been quiet and not shaking their heads as much. They are very thirsty, I've noticed. They go thru their water in under a day now, but maybe it is just because they are getting bigger. Thanks for all the input. You all are awesome.
