The parent is supposed to TELL the child what to do, asking them to do it gives them an option. This would allow them a choice to say oh ok, or maybe, nah or they just might accidently want too, more than likely not though.

I have a teen and an almost 5yr old. The teen is not allowed gardasil as it only prevents 4 out of over 4000 and has not been proven properly. In fact, I don't know if it is the vaccine or something else but many of the first generation to receive it is infertile. She did great with all the other mandatory vaccines. My almost 5 yr old, however, gets really sick for at least 2 weeks after every shot. I have to decide if he gets his kindergarten shots or an exemption. The only time in his life that he has ever been sick was right after a shot, then he gets high fevers, rash, and needs breathing meds. The doctors say they are possible side effects, but for a kid that never gets sick on his own are the side effects worth it? Also, they are making it harder and harder to make your own choice. Seems they want everyone to be in one way or another forced into it.

I have been REFUSING to give my 2 the Gardasil since it came out!!!! My SIL mocked me and acted like I had grown an arm out of my forehead. My comment was that in a few years when/if there are side affects like infertility and the like then I would be happy I didn't give in and get them the shot. I continue to be glad I didn't and won't. Funny thing is that they are just slowing the population growth of the SHEEP. Wonder how that's going to work out for them. My sister has decided with this last baby that she is no longer going to give ANY more shots at all. I am a little scared for some of the diseases, like whooping cough and things like that. But I support her choice. I always thought it was crazy to shoot up a little baby with 2-4 shots at a time, and some of those are combos. We had our kids get all the regular shots when they were younger. But we stretched them WAY out. They always were on us about being "Behind". But I figured it would be easier on their system to not be overloaded all at once.

And I hate buying things from China too! I want this one design of mold......its so pretty! But I refuse to buy it because it would be coming from there. I love buying local and USA. I was pretty bummed out recently when my hubby brought home some coffee mugs. They are from one of the military organizations that he works with.........made in China on the bottom

I am starting to like my over pooping meaties more and more now. I didn't think I would consider another batch after this one because of how messy they are even with free ranging, however now I am planning my next batch in the spring. Seems the only way to be safe is to grow and raise your own. Now only if I could find a banana tree... My kids are obsessed with them and Mexico is starting to use GM trees to combat bugs and spoilage. From what I have read they are mixing them with genetics of bell peppers (to keep longer) and pesticides (for the bugs). I also wish we had a pick your own berry farm on my side of the state, I hate growing blackberries and raspberries as they seem to reach out and grab you.

You can buy thornless blackberry bushes. I got one this year and the few berries I got were wonderful. I have planted 2 blueberry bushes for the last 2 years and all four have died. My blackberry is in the same garden and also the satsuma and they are okay. I have terrible river clay soil but I have put lots of good soil in the beds. Maybe next year will be my bumper year. Lol.

Yes! The Apache and Ouachita thornless blackberries are yummy! I have 3 young bushes. I also have 3 citrus sm trees in pots......so maybe the banana will work too. I will give it some thought. We are pretty full up on plants and tees in this little yard though.

Now I feel dumb. I didn't know they had a thornless kind. I certainly wouldn't have gotten these if I did. I thought by having these thorned ones only 2' deep and as long as the fence it would prevent getting pricked too often. Boy was I wrong, my problem is not picking them, it's walking within 5' of where they are. They seem to grow like weeds no matter how well you keep them trimmed as well.

My thornless is growing fast too. I tend to avoid plants that cause bodily and bloody harm. I still regret the knock out roses. Every time I prune them (even with gloves and long clippers) I look like I just tried to hug a wild rabbit. I picked up a pair of long thick rubber electrical gloves cheap at a garage sale to try during the next pruning.

I'm planning to go to my first Slow Food Baton Rouge on Tuesday. It's on backyard chickens. I want to see what they have to say. Other topics are organic gardening, composting, etc. I'm doing all of that but want to do it better .

On our way back from an appt today we stopped at a road side veg stand. Got a big box of sweet potatoes and some big butternut squash. 2veg that I did not get to grow this summer. So i may get some sweet potato pie tomorrow! Yum! Hope this B12 shot kicks in fast. I have a to do list a mile long and i would love to take advantage of the nice weather.

Carrots are sprouting in the garden

And we have some watermelon on their way from a friend. Looking forward to that for sure.
