"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

It's been great having 5 acres... but I am on very high clay soil. We wanted to start with vegetables and fruit next spring, any tips on dealing with the soil?

We're on clay, too. Mulch, mulch, mulch! Compost like crazy. The more organic matter you can put into your soil, the more you'll break up the clay. Everything I clean out of my coop goes into the mulch pile for the garden. We chop up the leaves w/the lawnmower & that goes in also.

Those are gender specific toilets. One is for the male and the other is for females. The oblong design helps tremendously when coming in for a landing with your landing gear down. In fact it is sorta like landing a helicopter as you can't see the contact points once you're so close to the pad(seat). The ovate shape gives more clearance and less of an accidental contacting point for the male in the copping a squat mode. LOL TOO much more info Huh? LOL

My hens got to eat fresh watermelon for dinner, yummy! I hope to have some luck with making some jelly out of some. There were mixed reviews about a recipe on a canning that I had been reading about the subject. But I have a couple of sources and a couple of tricks I want to try. So we will see. We have homecoming hs football tomorrow and then homecoming dance. I am not ready for boys to be hugging my baby. Let alone whatever else we all know is running through boys minds. Tonight I am NOT ready for her to grow up!!!
