"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Quick hi from me! Crazy busy at work today – when I say crazy, I mean it must be a full moon because we have had some real loony-tunes today. One of them actually kinda scary. I know my BP is up because the back of my head feels like somebody caught me with a 2x4!

I’m taking my beloved Winnie in to the vet tomorrow for a teeth cleaning, so if ya’ll can spare a thought or little prayer it would be greatly appreciated & reciprocated. She’s 9 now & I hate to put her under anesthesia because she’s sensitive to it, but we’ve been fighting a gum infection for 2 weeks now & it’s not much better so we have to get those teeth cleaned good. Mind you, I brush their teeth & put stuff in their water to prevent tarter, but her saliva is just the kind that she gets buildups & gum infections. Her brother Mal never has any problems with his teeth. 4-5 years ago I had to do this & they ended up pulling 2 teeth because they were loose they were so bad, but I don’t think they’ll have to do that this time. I just want to get this over with & my little porcelain doll back home. I’ll be a wreck tomorrow. Yeah I know – over-reacting – but that’s the way I am with my furkids.

SEE??!!??... Crack Pipe!!!! I'm telling you...people are CRAZY!!!!!

Thoughts and prayers for Winnie tomorrow (and mama too). Things will go well...

You can pamper her when she gets home. Cook her some scrambled eggs.

Is the house nothing but one complete bathroom??? 0% return on that one! No one in their right mind would spend that much on one room, much less one that you spend so little time in! Making me choke on my coffee over here!
Let me explain...evidently it's a "someone" building it. She said his name, but

. I think he's some kind of doctor?? She said it's three full stories. The entire bottom floor is a ballroom and entertaining area. If it's the largest home in Louisiana, I can only imagine how many bathrooms, not to mention what the master bathroom looks like. When she was explaining all of this to me, I wanted to respond, "Does not compute". It was WAY beyond me! Maybe I should of asked her if she wanted some eggs?

I bought a little Yorkie from a puppy mill (before I knew what one was). She was "guaranteed". Well, within a couple of days she was very sick. The vet said it was parvo. Supposedly the puppy had been vacinnated before I bought it. I called the seller and the seller said I could bring it back and get another one. Well, I wasn't going to do that for many reasons mostly because I knew they would just let that little puppy die. So, the puppy was in the vet for TWO weeks clinging to life. I would visit her after work each day so she would know me. When I took her home I had to cook rice and lean chicken for her, but she was sick again within 24 hours. Back to the vet. Finally she was back home on home cooked food. My schnauzer must have sensed her frailty because he made it his life work to protect her. It was VERY expensive but she was a lovely little girl. She always was a bit frail and was on medication and well known by vets where ever I lived. Finally One day when she was back at the vet, they called me and said she was flat lining off and on and recommended she go to LSU vet. I asked if anything could be done. They said "no". I said, then she'll die with me and not at the vet. She lived one more day and died in her sleep in my bed. She lived 10 years. Now I know about puppy mills and stores that use them. Also, about parvo. It's all so sad. I'm crying even
writing this and remembering.

That's so sad. I'm glad you kept her an had 10 years. The puppy mills wanted to give you another puppy from the same litter that would have a very good chance of parvovirus too. Puppy mills that's another subject I could go off on. Bring on the matches !!
I did have a puppy I bought because the breeder was not taking good care of them .I bought him to save his life. My emotions were in charge of that buy. I was young at the time. Went to the vet he had hook worms. So his health was poor to say the least almost died a few times. I bring this up because yesterday she said parvovirus an hook worms . You don't just worm a dog and the hook worms are gone. IMHO they are right after heart worms as worst type to have. And they also live in the ground along time. You have to pick up every poop to get rid of them and to keep your dog from re infestation .

It's very hard when we lose our beloved pets. I would like to have breeders and the puppy mills held accountable for their neglect etc. I think they should have to pay all the vet bills of animals they breed and sell that have problems. If there kept in deplorable conditions the breeder should have to live like that for a month. Things might change if their was more then a slap on the wrist. Pam

I'm sure you could have easily gotten $100 a dozen from her.

Oh my!! Glad I have boys! The things I see my nieces wear...I would burn a good portion of them!
I am glad my daughter is a tom boy! She even wears jeans in summer. She potty trained much younger than my son. When she was 9 months old she couldn't stand diapers anymore so I bought her "big girl underwear" and started potty training. What I didn't know was that they were thongs. Who makes or sells those for 9-12 month olds??? I bought them at the dollar general and didn't think to look at the style because at that age I thought they were all granny panties. Went threw crap to return them and started looking closely at anything I bought for her. I would have blisters on my butt and not be able to sit for a month if I wore some of the things they sell for little girls now!

The first puppy we got after we got married, our little great dane Ares, I lost to parvo. It was devastating. He was 9 weeks old and already had his first shots with an appointment for his second only days away. He got sick on Thanksgiving and crashed appallingly fast. We couldn't find an open vet and despite my best efforts, he died in my arms by the crack of dawn. That was my first and cruelest lesson in parvo. I had never even heard of it before that. I know how quickly my partially vaccinated great dane puppy faded out, and Jubilee is hardly a handful of fur. If she gets it.... I'm not remotely optimistic about her chances. I wish she hadn't let impatience get the best of her. I understand she recently lost her 15 year old aussie, but now she may have to bury 2. I wish she'd of seen that. :fl  Maybe with God's good grace she'll dodge the bullet.

I now have a lot of experience with pet store horror. I went into a pet store years ago and ended up helping a customer more than the employee and was offered a job. I saw a chance to work with animals! Very naive and ignorant about pet stores at the time. That place ended up being a prison. The owner couldn't care less about animals, only the money. If I did not take care of them, they wouldn't be taken care of. Period. I quickly learned what puppy mills were, as the "breeders" often had dirty puppies with 20+ breeds to choose from. I took a week off for Christmas, and when I came back there were over a dozen puppies there in critical condition. No food or water. Bloated with worms and covered in feces and most of all clearly sick. Most of those puppies died in my arms. I gave every single one a name and a few minutes of love so they wouldn't die nameless and unloved. I left for 1 Week and in that time 9 puppies ended up dying. I had my vet call the humane society and they ordered the remaining sick puppies be taken to a vet, so he sent me with an armful of puppies but EVERY vet in town hated him so much they would not see the puppies. Here I am, holding dying puppies sobbing, to have one vet say "I'm in this for money and I know he isn't going to pay."  It was an unimaginable place to be in my life. I hated my job so much, but was terrified that if I quit, how many more would die? I didn't leave the job until the humane society got tougher animal selling restrictions passed, with hefty fines. You know, things that take money! Which is what he heard, not dead fur babies. :hit  Thankfully that pet store is gone now.

I'm glad he's gone! Shame on those vets. It's hard to find a good one that's treating and doing what's best for your dog. They too push you to do what' makes them more money over what the dog needs.

Thongs for kids?!?! Wow!! A friends wife posted a picture of their 8 year old daughter on Facebook. She looked like something off of Toddlers & Tieras!! I showed my husband and he thought they were just being silly because she looked like a mini hooker. I said, "Uhhh, no, they're serious...look at the captions". He couldn't believe it!

Have a question, ran into a friend yesterday that purchased 8 RIR chicks from another person back in February and they or not laying. They were about 6 weeks old when he purchased them. I have not seen them but he said they or hens, I was thinking maybe he got 8 roo's. Anyone else ever had this problem? and if so what can be done to help them start laying? FREZER CAMP is on order if they don't start soon
