He he he
Yay!
OK I have done bit the bullet. When I went home for lunch, I told Jim I wanted him to start building a hoop tractor for meat birds. He said “a what”? & I said, “I’ll email you a picture”. He’ll do it. We have the wire & a gate & hinges, all we need is the PVC pipe & I think there’s some of that next door in my Dad’s tractor shed.

Then he can start on a chicken plucker.

I love them! Good job!
I actually just finished selling 27 rabbits to one customer, the largest amount in a single sale, so far! :weee Only 6 more pregnant, or soon to be pregnant Does and 6 mature Bucks to go and only bunnies will be left, except for 16 -11week olds that will be going to freezer camp next week. Getting down to just breeding stock, so as soon as the rabbit Pavilion is complete and cages and water lines are ir place, I will start breeding 2 does a week to fill orders that are continuing to come in. :celebrate The man who bought a trio of NZW meat rabbits said he had been looking for a while for close to breeding Does and can see these does are ready to download anytime was a real blessing and kept thanking me over and over, saying starting his breeding stock already ready to reproduce for just $70, was really cheap, but I feel it is a fair price. If I had not been so sick at process age or if I had someone to do the do, they would have never gotten to 6 months old!:/ Some people drove 2 1/2 hours to buy some. In 2 months, the bunnies will sell for triple what they paid and they still have their breeding stock to re-mate every 2 months. A dozen rabbits every month, with 2 does, keeps a lot of meat in your freezer, processed out @ 3 1/2 pounds each, and unless they are nursing, very easy on the feed bill. If you like rabbit meat and want good homegrown meat, you can't beat rabbits! They more than pay for their own feed and more!

Is it the type BeeKissed on the old timers thread built for her mom?

Terri, I told my builder that I wanted to build the tractor for the broilers myself and he looked at me and was NOT happy.
hmm.png
He's afraid I may cut my fingers off with the saw.

He told me to get 200 broilers and then I looked at HIM like he was KRAZY! 200? Really? The broilers will be here in January which gives me plenty of time to get their tractor and feed ready. I will put them in the garage the first week. I have about 50 new kiddie pools that I bought on sale at Dolalr General

, so I'll start them off in those and then move them outside.
He loves you and want's you to keep all your fingers, so you can bake cakes and make wine! Does he know about your matches and fantasies about blowing up cars? LOL

Have fun on your trip.

Just curious to who was in to antiques. I look at Craigslist a lot and I see all kinds of antiques that I admire and wish that I had space to put them but I don't. I like looking at furniture, dishes, appliances, etc. I know some people would prefer eating off of fine China if they went to someone's house, but for me, you could pull out the old antique dishes and a mason jar to drink in and I would be tickled pink.

I just like that kinda stuff.
Last time I was in the Everything $ store, they had large mason jar mugs with handles for sale, like the old root beer ones we had as kids.As kids they were just pint jars, come to think of it, no handles and jelly jars for milk!

I thought it was interesting to read the Bresse thread about how good they taste – but, it seems to me if you fed any kind of chickens the way the traditional Bresse is fed, that would affect the taste of the meat.

I remember when we used to raise a couple of hogs every year, Daddy would finish them off with corn the last couple of weeks. I plan on doing that with my meat birds.
Corn is great for fattening up roosters, but it adds a layer of fat, too. It also darkens the yolks of eggs when fed to laying hens. I usually start feeding my hens about 1/4 corn and 3/4 laying pellets the beginning of October and by Halloween they lay eggs with dark orange yolks. Then by Christmas, the yolks are almost red! ACV makes the whites very clear and yolks bigger too. Black Oil sunflower seeds give the birds shinier feathers and bigger yolks, too. In general it conditions them for the colder months ahead. It makes rabbit fur softer and better conditioned, too.
I just hate that GMO corn, so I stopped getting extra corn for them. They do get plenty of acorns.
Can I peek!?
Lol
I'm fermenting feed and LOVE it but trying to gather some solid numbers seems difficult
hmm.png
so using regular feed numbers and my FF numbers I have to get an idea helps.

Imma sponge for info and we have always had hiccups on New projects lol so all info is welcomed.
We want 8 weeks, we will probably do 10 weeks if successful with free range/FF building strong chicks.
My husband and I agreed if we physically see a broiler bite it- not due to obvious disease, we would process it immediately.
hmm.png
figuring a "flip" or "drop dead" is a heart attack making it safe to eat if processed AT time of death.
I hope not to lose any! Bahahhaa But it happens sooooo that's our thought. If "found" dead we wouldn't.

I process chickens that are fresh killed for the dogs. I am afraid they might not bleed out properly, but if a dog(not mine, they guard rabbits) catches a wild rabbit or squirrel, aka critter, in the woods, they kill and eat, they don't wait for thorough bleed out, so I think it's ok for them. I don't let my dogs have raw meat, but I know others do,

You're welcome. I'm getting all excited about these broilers but I know come January, I will be ranting that I have too many. So y'all get ready for my rants.

Everyone should already be used to them by now! LOL

Good morning y'all.
Hey good morning & TGIF!!!
We had fun before we opened for business this morning. We all wear pink every Fri in October (Fridays are casual day – jeans & sneakers, yeah)! We have a young lady named Ebony & she’s lost over 150 pounds in the past 3 years – she is model pretty now & flaunts it, too! Today she had on leopardskin tights, 4 inch hot pink stilettos & a hot pink top w/a denim jacket. We made her “walk the catwalk” all the way across the cashier booth up front, & she threw in a shimmy or two while we applauded.

Then they made me do my “Payday Happy Dance” (sort of a cross between Snoopy and a polka) – I always wear my bright purple sneakers on Friday Paydays.
