"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

What American accent do you have?

Your Result: Philadelphia 87% :idunno

Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard.

I was 80% Philly. When I moved to East TN, I drove into Farragut TN and stopped at a Weigel's (Circle K type store). When I heard how they talked I was stunned. It sounded so hillbilly. It sounded so strong. I did think it sounded funny. Everywhere I went for the next year or so people would ask me where I was from based on my accent. Then one day I noticed that no one asked that any more and I suddenly realized I was one of them. Lol. There were some Pronunciations that I never picked up like Alford was pronounced Alfred. And idea was pronounced ideal. But, other than a few words I was a hillbilly, and, btw, I loved it and loved them. I still say "aw law". As an exclamation, but I have lost my beloved hillbilly accent. I know bec when I came back to LA everyone asked me where I was from. Then one day I realized no one asked any more and knew I was a Louisianian again. Lol

I doubt if they send any estras with 100. I will take a pic. I plan on counting them by putting 20 birds in the GAZILLION kiddie pools that I bought for $0.80 at the Dollar General Store. ( I knew those pools would come in handy.). I will have them in the garage for a week or so in the kiddie pools and them will transition them out to their chicken tractor. I"m trying to decide if I want to put sand bedding in the pools or something else. I'm not sure. I will surely take lost of pics. You all will get tired of me posting pics. I really want to document daily their feed consumption, water consumption, weights, etc. I know I won't be able to weigh all of them but I want to get a test group and band their legs and track weights and behaviors. I really want to see how much money I will spend on organic feed at the end of the process to see if it was worth getting so many. And if any die, then they will be gumbo or stew for that weekend.
I can't wait to follow along. This will be very helpful to the rest of us. HOWEVER, I don't think any of the rest of us are "special" enough to get 100!!!

Oh please believe im not special. I'm cheap!!! I just lucked up and found an incredible deal on broilers. You know I go overboard when I find a good sale. Lol

I took this one.

Apparently since I'm not a clubbing, binge drinking alcoholic that loses my head over Mardi Gras, I'm not from Louisiana.

I seriously doubt the person that made that one is from Louisiana, or else they would understand that unlike the "Louisiana" from T.V. , our state consists of more than stereotyped New Orleans.
LOL do I ever know how that goes! You ought to hear them when I go visit my inlaws in Wisconsin. I have an accent? I do NOT have an accent – they have the accent! They all “sing” every word.

They are convinced that if they cross the state line into Louisiana, they will immediately fall into a swamp. They think we get places by way of poling pirogues. And we all have alligators everywhere.

I admit, I do nothing to dispel some of these notions. I add to them. On my first trip up there 34 years ago, when asked about the gator thing, I said, “Oh sure, we have ‘em but it’s no big deal. I just grab my broom and shoo them right off the porch”. I kept a perfectly straight face when I said it, too.

It helped greatly when one SIL ventured to come visit us, and, her first morning here, my Dad popped his head in our back door, said “Snake”, grabbed the shotgun from the hall closet where he knew we kept it & next thing we heard was gunshot out back (he’d spotted a big snake in the fig tree as he walked down our driveway). Hey, Welcome to Louisiana!

Hey that show “Undercover Boss” that comes on tonight?
Tonight it is Ryan’s in Alexandria!
Be interesting to see how much “hick” they portray us as…

On Facebook, I have followed one family's journey with their son's illness and recent passing. Search for "Mitchell's Journey". His father has been posting some of the most heartfelt and emotional posts I have ever read. Reading his posts, has made me even more thankful for my children, and I hug them just a little bit harder because of it.

It said I was 66% Philly(BS) and 96% on being from Louisiana they were way off on the speech and fairly close on the area, I have a full slooow southern drawl and was born and raised in La.
Must have been a dammed yankee(sorry Jim LOL) that conjured up that test site huh?

Maid it safe . Here's a egg pic from the farmers market. 4 flavors . Pam

Very colorful display, will catch everyone's eye and should sell well. I am sure they will sell out fast!

I'll go over there and look and see what I come up with. Having a self sustaining breed sounds good but for me, that would be a nightmare with the already gazillion birds that I have. I th ink the quick 8 - 10 week process would work better for me.

Now I"m getting scared. Did I just order 100 broilers???????????????

PLEASE take a picture of the box they come in. I can't wait to see how big it is. Just how do you count that many birds? Take LOTS of pictures!!!!
When I bought 100 chicks, they came in a 4 compartment box about 2'x3'

So what you're saying is that there is no wine that can help what I am about to get myself into?
lau.gif
You are one of a kind, but we love you !!!! If you need a hand doing the do, when they are ready, let me know and I will bring my razor sharp knives and you supply the wine! We can have a processing party! LOL
lau.gif
We can't leave you with 100 birds to process by yourself, especially if you have matches close by!
