"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Gee I ran everybody off!
Mon is my Mom's birthday; she'll be 83. This is the cake I'm making:

Coffee Devil’s Food Cake

3 eggs, separated
¾ cup sugar
½ cup butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
½ cup cocoa
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
¾ cup strong coffee
¾ cup Kahlua

Preheat oven to 350. Grease & flour two 9 in. cake pans.
Beat egg whites until frothy; then beat in sugar until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
Cream butter & brown sugar w/mixer for about 5 minutes. Beat in egg yolks one at a time.
Sift flour, cocoa & soda together. Add to creamed mixture alternately with coffee and liqueur; blend well. Fold egg whites into batter.
Pour into prepared pans. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes until tester comes clean.
Cool 10 minutes, invert on a wire rack & remove pans. Allow to cool completely before frosting.

Coffee-Chocolate Frosting

6 tablespoons butter
1 pound confectiner’s sugar (3 ¾ cups) sifted
3 tablespoons cocoa
3 tablespoons Kahlua
2-3 tablespoons strong, hot coffee

Cream together butter & sugar. Beat in cocoa, coffee & liqueur until smooth.

I got my pumpkins this morning. :)

Yeah the key word there was "stoned" too there's lots of stuff that stoners do that they think is perfectly normal and the un-stoned don't LOL its fun to watch too J/S

yeah the munchies,LOL its a heck of a cycle get stoned, eat, that makes you sober up, get stoned again...ect its an over and over trend til the pot&food runs out LOL

Jeff

Interesting. I have never tried it or been around anyone when they used it. But sometimes we see people and we are like......they HAVE TO be stoned or high on something!!! Because they just are not acting right at all! Hahaha!!! My sister used to smoke pot all the time when she was younger, but never around me.
I always recommend this site when I do workshops.

I'm going to put up some satsumas in a light syrup, like mandarin oranges in the store.

Confession: I like dehydrated potatoes better than fresh ones.

I may try dehydrating some potatoes someday when I find a good sale. I have some pumpkin sliced up into very thin slices to dehydrate. I'm just trying a small batch to see if I like them first.

What other recipes do you use for citrus. Hubby said a guy at work is giving us......something citrus I don't remember. Maybe satsumas or oranges. I am trying to plan ahead and think of some things to do with them.

I am in full blown "HOLIDAY MOOD/MODE"!!!! Listening to Christmas tunes, I am going to put up more decorations this weekend. Bought my first jug of eggnog and Christmas gift this morning! And I am seriously "Jones-ing" for a roasted Turkey dinner with all the trimmings!!!!

Anyone else in the holiday mood? I don't really separate the two, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Its just a big ol' smushed up good time.

I don't have the best luck with deals if I don't get it when I see it. They are NEVER there when I go back. I found this set for my sister in law at Sam's club. Its a nice heavy set. Its marked $24.99 but until November 24th you get an extra $5.00 off. I can't beat that! I hope she likes it!

A lot of people do marmalade but I tried it & we didn’t really care for it. Lemon curd is always good & you can use it in pies or whatever as well as on toast.

I juice most of my lemons & freeze it in ice trays, ziploc bag it & keep it in the freezer for use on fish, chicken, marinades, salad dressing, cooking, lemonade, etc. etc. I don’t have a whole lot of lemons this year so will mostly freeze the juice. I grate and freeze the rind also, I wrap a tablespoon in saran wrap & then put several of those in Ziplocs.

You can preserve them in salt but I never tried that.

Kumquats – ours are the tart kind, we sold most of them last year, but this year I’m going to try juicing and freezing them too, & also “kumquat curd”. It might be nice in cupcakes or something.

You can infuse them in vodka, too. You know those flavored vodkas are all the rage right now. Might make nice presents! And I bet Julie would make wine out of citrus, lol.
