"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Good morning peeps. It's nippy outside. If anyone is going out this morning and you drive by a Rac Trac store, stop in and get a free cup of coffe or hot chocolate. They have been giving it out for free all week until this Saturday. I get a free cup in the morning on the way to work and after work.

Stay warm Layers and get that gumbo cooking.

NIPPY?!!???  This isn't NIPPY...it's FRICKIN COLD AS A WITCHES T*@ #!!!!!!  I've got 7 stalls to clean...anyone want to help? I'll pay $2.00 a stall.  That's what my 12 year old gets.  He says that's slave labor, I said at least he's getting paid something!!

:yuckyuck

I'll pass on the stall cleaning. Tell your 12 year old that I pay more and he is welcome to come over and farm sit. :)

He'd be on that, "like white on rice"!! I wish we lived closer, that's something we'd LOVE to do!! It would create massive problems though, they would want to get at least one of everything you had, that we didn't!! They both love animals, my oldest is more partial to the larger (horses) and my yougest is smitten with the smaller (chickens). They both love the "mid-sized" (sheep, etc.). You should move over this way...

I've been sorta keeping track here.. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/834385/raising-our-1st-set-of-cx-meaties

They're at 3 weeks. Still on 1st bag of fermented chick starter & grains. Ive been keeping the troughs full. But now its morning feed and one more time in the evening before lights out lol.
They're outside now (except tonight & last night due to temps.) I didn't wrap the coop and to me, they still look like they'd freeze lol.
lost a few the 1st 10 days. Now it seems these guys are great. I ordered pullets...I think 1/4 of them are roos. A good thing I guess since they get bigger?
I'd assume I won't have crowing or fighting due to timing of slaughter :/ I hope lol
Today I ordered 50 for Jan too...hehehe

OMG !!!!!!!!! I LOVE THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE SO STINKING CUTE !!!!!!!!! :love

They look great !!!!!!! :ya

How long have you had them and how are they doing on feed? Give us some details on your journey so far. :pop

I am so jealous. I can't wait to get mine in January.

Good job !!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup

Beans sound good but I think I will have to give beans up. I"m having some "problems" from the side effects of eating beans.
You need a fart ladder or Bean-o/Gas-x LOL I like my beans LOL One of the funniest movie lines(for me that is) is in Blazing Saddles "dam* beans" Jeff
:yuckyuck :lau Too funny!!! I love beans but they almost killed me the other night. I was about to drive myself to the emergency room but I didn't want the ER staff to laugh at me after they diagnosed me with gas, so I suffered. :sick I took tums, Phazyme and Alka Seltzer. I eventually had relief. :/

Cool. I just subscribed so that I can learn from your meat bird journey. Thanks for the updates. It will help meat raisers learn. :thumbsup

Add about a tablespoon of baking soda to the water when you soak 'em overnight & you won't have that problem.

I will try that. Thanks for the tip. I was about to become depressed if I wouldn't be able to eat beans again. They are my favorite. I will try the baking soda this weekend. I will be making chili.
