"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Some citrus takes five years to bear a good crop of fruit. Mine are in full sun.i have navel, Persian lime, key lime,Mayer lemon, Lisbon lemon, and I just planted cooking pear and apple pear. I'm trying to find a pecan tree haven't had any luck finding one. Pam
We have Anna Apple, Golden delicious, red delicious, Darsett golden Apple, Blueberries, figs, Bartlett pears, Bing cherries, Purple plums, Golden plums, 5 Peaches( I forget the names) and the citric, I already mentioned. Blackberries grow wild around here, so I would like to try a thorn less Raspberry, too. Pecans were very abundant in St. Bernard, too, but since Katrina, not many survived! We would gather toms of the paper shelled at my friends house, shell them and freeze to have all year.

Is it my imagination, or has no one posted for 13 hours!!??!! A new record for the peeps.
Lots of processing, this time of year and you know, we have to make Hay while the sun shines! Plucked a turkey today and plan to process 7 rabbits tomorrow, if it isn't raining, tomorrow! Then they go into the freezer on Wednesday and if the weather permits, will process one of those big boy 18 month toms, you saw, while Hubby has his first apt with his new doctor. Since I will be doing it alone, I'll skin him except for the breast, I'll pluck and freeze that for a big roasted turkey breast, but debone the rest for smoked turkey sausages and ground turkey. I chill everything(except ground meat) for 3 days in a 72 quart ice chest on the front porch. In good weather, every 3 days, I will be taking out and freezing the contents and after a good cleaning, process something else to go in, hopefully till everything is processed and frozen, that's not being wintered over. I can't process the big toms and pluck them without help, or risk getting burned with the hot water dunking they need, by myself, so I have to do those when hubby's around to help. They weigh 40+ pounds and I can't hold those with stretched out arms by myself any more without using the tractor and something broke on it today!

Hubby will be pretty busy with the rabbit provillion, so I will be doing most all the plucking, unless someone want's learn to slaughter and process a turkey! LOL

How is the chicken condo roof coming?
BTW, Coco and powder have been together for about 4 weeks and she is very fat, so I have her by herself in a cage with a nest box and plenty straw, just in case? The last mixed mini doe was mated with Powder last week, so if Coco doesn't download by the time Vanilla, is due, I will switch her and Coco and try to mate Coco again. She is huge, but she eats like a pig, not a rabbit, so she may have trouble conceiving due to her extra weight? They have been getting some feet on the grass time, on really nice days and love it. Bear lays about 3 feet away and guards them, he sure loves the rabbits! How is Gin Gin and Lela ?

I am so sorry. My daughter was really sick last week, for a week. It was really hard. I will pray for you guys. Hope you are well soon.
I think something was going around, I had a few days running from the bedroom to the bathroom and lost 5 pounds in 3 days, feeling better, but lost another 4 pounds since. I didn't plan to loose the extra pounds until after the holidays, but the scale said 124 this morning and my size 6 jeans aren't tight at al anymore, so I should be down to my ideal medical weight be Christmas. Drinking a lot of mint tea helps, but can't overeat or I get real queasy. I have a Doctor's apt for the 2nd, so I'll see what she says!

:p I got to play with the girls for awhile today. I enjoy days I get to hang with my lap girl lol
If there is ANY hint of a squat/bend of knee or shadow of my lap she's in it trying to cuddle and woo me. Weird chicken- but I love her lol her daughter is the splash in the last pic :) the fugly EE next to her (i love her-but whew her molt kicked her butt ) is the Boss hen after awhile of being bottom hen and relishing every moment lol, affectionately named Blue because we thought she'd lay us blue eggs lol doh . 6 jumbo (white/grey-ish) eggs a week. Every week, all seasons...best layer I've had so we kept her when we learned the difference between EEs and AMs and went on the hunt for wheatans :).

Does your apple bear fruit? I've been wanting to grow apples but I'm told they won't fruit. I'd also like to know how your bing cherry does here. I love bing cherries.
I think the black berries are wild all over the state.
Ron keeps cutting trees which I like my trees. To day he dangled planting more fruit trees if I let him cut a magnolia. That's a hard one Maybe if he plants five fruit for the magnolia.:idunno Pam

Hahaha @ plant 5 for 1

I got 2 cherry trees, a pineapple guava & a sweet olive last year for giving into the the chainsaw begging for the southern magnolia by our pool...
Was a win win tho because its my job to skim said pool- I didn't realize the southern mags shed 4 x's a year- right into the pool thought it was wind lol now my shoulders and abs get a rest skimming the 48,000 gallon beast & we have fruit & pretty scents.
Plus he got to climb a 40foot tree with a chainsaw attached to his hip. So scary! And hot lol
