"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Speaking of deer meat, I had an uncle who was a butcher and a great cook, who cooked deer meat like roast beef and made the best poboy sandwiches, they tasted just like roast beef, except better! I think he simmered the garlic stuffed meat in beef stock and then sliced it like cooked roast beef. I can still remember the taste. It was the best Roast beef sandwiches I have ever eaten.

Thanks! I am sooooo going to want more blue and green layers! Right after we tackle the 50 meaties coming Friday :)
Great looking hens and you can's sneeze at 6 large eggs a week from her!  She is a definite keeper! If you want blue or green EE hatching eggs, let me know, I will have plenty to share after molt ends.

I would have rented those guys last week! Insomnia creeps up on old people like me and I love the looks of those great looking sheep! :LOL Thanks for sharing!

Our cherries are 200 chill hours to fruit. Some are 300 and a few are higher. We've noticed every 3-4 year's down south here gets enough chill hours so hopefully we will get fruit sooner than later :)
According to the arbor society and LSU who I bought them from, they do, but you have to have a cold winter with x number of chill hours during the winter before. The first 2 years we were here, it snowed quite a bit, but the just planted trees were too young and the last few years, not cold enough. If we get enough cold weather this winter, they probably will, I HOPE ! LOL The Bing should bear for the first time next year, for the first time, so I'll have to let you know.
I don't know if I could part with a magnolia, do you have any pine to trade him for? LOL

Sounds like a great plan to me! We plan on tarps to roll up during the summer and tie and roll down on really bad winter temps., in the new provillion. 8 loads of soil hauled and packed, tapering to the drains, steering on tractor needs fixing as soon as parts arrive and then the whole building should go up in a weekend with 3 friends bringing their equipment, scaffolding and experience with them. Probably another week or two making cages and hanging then, maybe another putting in all the water and drainage lines, electric for fans, etc and the auto watering nipples and worm boxes. I asked for 38 cages, hubby said he is putting in 48, because he doesn't want to put on an addition for a few years and rabbit math is worse than chicken math! LOL The 11x14 incubator/brooder room and 11x10 processing A/C processing room with the 10' SS 3 compartment sink and 2 counters will go up next, then he will have the rabbits and wood out of his shop and we both will be happy campers!!! At last! He still has 2 dryers and a washer, to use for a plucker big enough for out big turkeys, but he needs a break after all this building, but the plucking fingers are bought already. It just takes time! LOL

My nephew gave me a smaller version of one like this for ducks, but it didn't do very good on ducks, but is too small for a 40# turkey, easier to pluck by hand and is the water is just right at 155 degrees, most of the feathers can almost be rubbed off. I find turkeys pluck easier than chickens, but it would be nice to have a homemade wizbangger!

That sounds like a super setup. George is so talented. Your place is going to be so cool.

I know he gave is free will, but he has intervened so many times in my life, against those who could have harmed me or my family, I know all things are possible with God! I would never even start to put a limit on what He can and Will do. If I had ever listed all the ways he saved me, no one would believe me. It even amaze doctors. Like the 3 Hebrew children, in the book of Daniel, we can walk through fire and not even smell of smoke, if Christ walks with us and when we are not strong enough to protect ourselves, He does it. We have power over ALL our enemies, in Christ's name! I know this to be a fact!

Amen Sister. I have too many to count, too.

I had a guest that stayed with us bring deer with them. We don 't care for it except the sausage and ground with other meat. She brought the tenderloin. She marinated it over night in soy vay hoisin garlic marinade added a little olive oil pepper what ever you like. She seared it in a cast iron pan. Hot pan as hot as a wok. You know maybe cooking in the wok an adding vegetables might be another way to go. Any way searing with the marinade wAs very good. We all enjoyed it except Ron who say's he just doesn't like deer, except sausage or the ground meat. When I made burgers with it I add mushrooms chopped fine, this keeps the burger moist. Oh I almost forgot she had cut it in pieces like the size of stew meat. She also said any time she cooked the deer she marinates over night. Pam

Yes, I really, really, really do want to. It's a goal of mine. Sounds crazy I know. :gig
M

Wednesdays are my treadmill days. I started a few months ago and have slowly increased the incline a bit and the speed. Last Wednesday I wanted to try to run a little on it but I've never run on a treadmill and want someone to give me pointers first. Of course I could walk out my door and do it. Hummm. Lol

Years ago when I wanted to run and didn't know where to begin, this is what helped me. I'm sure it is the same for a treadmill but please do your research first. This program does work. For anyone who says that they could never run, CAN run (unless they have a physical problem that does not allow them to run). I used this program about 8 years ago. When I started this program, I could not run for any period of time. Within about 6 months, I was running 6 miles a day. My weekly running average was about about 30 miles each week. I LOVE running. After my 6 miles, I would get on my bike and cycle about 5 miles. That was my daily cardio workout. I felt so good!

I ran track in High School but if you see me running now something is wrong & you should follow me! BEFORE TURK GETS YOU! LOL As for cooking deer meat I cook it the same way I cook my beef. The only thing I do different is marinate it over night in either wine or whiskey. I love cooking deer roast in my crock pot.
