Oh no, never! With the worst of worst here I still could never compare to a good or even mediocre day in the city(there are none) nope sirree Bob BTDT I'll take the crap, the sludge, the mess all day long and not trade it for one rush hour of traffic, not a city boy, me. LOLIt's mornings like this....
I turned all the mares out this morning, and then, first day of vacation, I rounded up the boys and made them come out to the barn with me. My oldest helped clean stalls (for service hours) and the youngest swept the barn and took care of the chickens. There was much grumbling about being made to "do chores" at 7ish on their first day off! I needed to get the stalls cleaned, add shavings and drop hay, because of the coming rain. I got everything ready, and decided NOT to wait for the rain to start before bringing them back in. Well, as Mother Nature would have it, it started raining while I was bringing in the first pasture (3 pregnant mares). The "ladies" (I was calling them unkind names at this point) decided that they didn't want to go in their stalls. They'd rather run around in the rain with their blankets on. I was not a happy camper. FINALLY got the first group in, and then headed the 4 wheeler to the big pasture. The big pasture has the mares that are not bred yet in it, as well as, my kids gelding Star. Wellllllll....everyone herded into the barn pasture ok, but that's when it went "to the crapper". They thought they were at the races again, and were running and sliding around in the mud (with their blankets on). Needless to say, we were all soaking wet by the time I finally got them into their stalls. My gelding Star, I would have gladly sent to the dog food plant, he had me so mad! He was having a blast getting the "ladies" worked up and running around the barn pasture. He also thought it was fun to run by the chicken coop/ run to make the chickens squawk and scatter. AGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!![]()

It's days like this that I miss the city!
Oh wait...by "city", I was talking about Mandeville or Baton Rouge, etc...a subdivision, where there were no horses. I usually change my mind, as soon as, I dry off and warm up. I'm a woman, I'm allowed to be cranky and change my mind.Oh no, never! Gotcha BR is about as bad as anywhere else nowdays I have a long story of my first trip I ever took from the north side of Houston to Galveston in traffic hour thirty one day, 'bout failed my physical at the Dr.s office when I finally got there. After I'd been there for a couple of hours things were fine and good and my BP and heart rate were back to a tollerable level. That nurse couldn't/ would not understand my problem till after a lengthy discussion with her and "where I come from" LOLOh wait...by "city", I was talking about Mandeville or Baton Rouge, etc...a subdivision, where there were no horses. He's a fun place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.![]()

Well, I should qualify again...Baton Rouge back in '97 when I graduated from LSU. I was there a few months ago and the traffic was CRAZY!!
Funny you mentioned Houston. I grew up in Clear Lake City, over by NASA. Graduated high school in '89 and moved to Baton Rouge in '89/'90 to go to LSU. These days, it takes an act of God to get my husband to go across the "lake" (Pontchartrain) to New Orleans. He sees no good reason. :/ I think it's a fun place to visit once in a while.
A side note: If anyone ever has the time, you should really go to the World War II Museum (in New Orleans). It is FANTASTIC!! It is my 12 year olds favorite place! My boys are going there tomorrow with their grandparents while I work. He is actually going to start volunteering there on weekends. I've just been putting it off as long as possible, because I will have to drive him downtown on Saturdays. The museum is AMAZING. It is a place that is worth the drive (and traffic) to go to.
