"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Yummy
First fire for the year and first meal cooked in fire place. Nothing like steak cooked over oak coals .I also grilled asparagus . If you use a fireplace you should get this grill. Pam

This is the bantam I couldn't leave behind she was the one lone chick so she came home with the other two. Only thing is I don't know what breed she is. I'll keep posting as she grows till someone can name the breed.

After hearing Julie talk about LemonMeringue's soap, I ordered a few bars. They came packaged beautifully! I didn't want to open them, just look. I've used them for a few days now, and I don't itch when I get out of the shower! I am currently using the Calendula & Buttermilk Baby soap, but also got the Buttermilk Baby soap and a bar of the Honeyed Ale Soap. I LOVE the smell of the Honeyed Ale Soap!!! I have tucked that bar into my bath towel closet, until it's time to use it. It smells so good!
Just had to share...I can't wait to try more...I'm on her "list", as I want some for the family gift exchange.
Laurie

I orderd the Calendula & Buttermilk (that's the 1st one that I used) and Sweet cream, petals and oats. I just checked tracking and it is in Lafayette, so I should get it tomorrow. I can't wait to take a shower.

Don't ya just love that soap? I sure do!

The Honey Ale Soap sounds good but will have to check with her on the scent.

I told her to put me on her list as well. I wanna try all of them. I may venture off into those that have a light scent. Too bad she can't send "scratch and sniff" samples in the mail for us to smell them.

They will make beautiful Christmas presents.

Ok, I have to share this funny story with you all. Well it was funny to me and my best friend.

So, my best friend who lives in Baton Rouge calls me today. This is how the conversation went.

Best Friend: Hey girl, I was just calling you to thank you for the package that you left for me at grandma's house. I just picked it up from my mom's house and she wanted to see what all you sent. You sent so much stuff. I can't thank you enough. That was so sweet of you.
Me: You are welcome. Did you see the wine samples?

Best Friend: Wine samples? What wine samples?
Me: Uh oh

Best Friend: You sent some wine?
Me:Yes, you didn't see them?

Best Friend: Don't tell me they took my wine!!!
Me:Uh oh. You didn't see a plastic bag with small bottles in it?

Best Friend: No, I didn't have my glasses on and I was rushing and mom wanted to see everything that you sent, so she was digging through all of the bags.
Me:Uh oh

Best Friend: What do you mean Uh oh? What were the samples in again?
Me: Uh oh

Best Friend: *laughing hysterically*
Me: Please tell me you're joking. Please tell me you saw the samples? Did you see the pint of grape wine?

Best Friend: *laughing hysterically* Yes, I saw the grape wine but I didn't see any samples of wine.
Me: *laughing hysterically* (because I'm waiting to hear what she is about to say next)

Best Friend: What were the samples in? I saw some glass bottles of Stevia and mom and I thought they were samples that you got free because we know how much free stuff you always get and we know that the Stevia is expensive. There were so many bottles and mom wanted to try some of the Stevia since she is getting away from eating sugar.
Me: Uh oh. Please don't tell me your mom took some of the bottles of Stevia. How many bottles did your mom take?

Best Friend: *laughing hysterically* Why? *laughing hysterically* She took 4 bottles.
Me: Uh oh. CAUSE THOSE WERE THE SAMPLES GIRL !!!!!!!!!!! *laughing hysterically*

Best Friend: *laughing hysterically* *laughing uncontrollably now* She is trying to talk and dieing laughing.
Me: *laughing hysterically*

Best Friend: OMG! Mom has the wine!!! I gotta call her. MOM is going to drink the wine! I GOTTA GO !!! I WANT MY WINE !!!!
Me: *laughing hysterically*

Best Friend: I'll call you back. Gotta go back and get my wine. *laughing hysterically*
Me: *laughing hysterically*

After 30 minutes, I get a call back

Best Friend: You won't believe this. *laughing hysterically*
Me: *laughing hysterically* WHAT HAPPENED?

Best Friend: Mom says she wants some more of the Stevia that was in the bottles. *laughing hysterically*
Me: *laughing hysterically* *laughing hysterically* *laughing hysterically* What flavor Stevia does she want?

Best Friend: ALL OF THEM! *laughing hysterically* She tasted all of them. *laughing hysterically*
Me:*laughing hysterically* ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!???! *laughing hysterically*

Best Friend: YES ! *laughing hysterically*
Me: *laughing hysterically* Did you tell her what she drank?

Best Friend: *laughing hysterically* Yes, I did.
Me: What did she say?

Best Friend: She said, she wants to buy some wine from here on out. *laughing hysterically*
ME: *laughing hysterically*

Best Friend: She also said that she felt a nap creeping up on her, so she was going to lay down. *laughing hysterically*
Me: *laughing hysterically* Next time, check your packages before you start giving stuff away to old people and kids.

So both of us can't even talk because we are laughing so hard. I had to hang up the phone because my stomach was hurting.

I think we will laugh at that for the rest of our lives.

My aunt used to cut lil pyramids of soap out of her favorites and put the lil piece in a satchet like wedding almonds come in and set them in her dresser drawers for the yummy smell lol. Not scratch and sniff but sorta like a sample? A soap chip card? Lol hmmmm

Imma have to order some now, your reviews are making me drool! How long is your wait list? We're gonna work you through winter!

Thank you for your kind comments!

Scratch & Sniff!  Good idea!  :D

Great news guys! My first chick-to-chicken raised flock laid their first eggs today! I'm a very proud chicken momma.

Im amazed that they pretty much started laying at the same time. These babies are going in the incubator on Sunday. I should have about twenty to put in if everyone lays every day. Now, to figure out who lays the beautiful dark egg~ (And funny thing is, I have three hens in the pen. I must have missed yesterday's egg?)

You better hurry, I just ordered 5 bars. I can't wait to get them.

Those are beautiful!! When mine first started laying I put pine shavings in the nesting boxes bec I couldn't find hay bales. I had hay for a while now so today I thought I would switch out the pine for hay. Nice, right??? NO!! One of the girls needed to lay her egg and she ran from box to box picking out the hay. So I pulled out all the hay and put in pine shavings and she hopped in and laid her egg. Wow. I guess chickens don't like change. Lol When it was raining today they all huddled under the new chicken shelter. I'm not quite done, but just have a few touches left, but the shingles are on and it was very dry under there so I put in a bunch of hay for them to nestle into. Since the bottom of the bunny hutch is hardware cloth, I put a bunch of hay in the hutch and a thick hay nest in each of the little bunny houses so they can each go into a house, or even in one together, so I'm hoping they will be able to stay warm. (Also the hutch is wrapped on three sides with tarp). This is my first winter with the bunnies and I don't want them to suffer. My second winter with the chickens. Any other suggestions on the bunnies would be great. The wind doesn't blow into the open end of the hutch.
