"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I must say, my Leghorns thrived here in Louisiana quite well! Never stopped laying,,,ever! Even during the icy days. They are definitely just for laying though. Not enough meat for the pot... but they lay for you EVERY DAY!!! And they started soon after turning 6 months old!

The cost of admission is minimal. However, I do understand some people won't be able to afford it. But there are other activities that are free that they can attend. They are providing musical entertainment, so that's probably one reason they are charging admission ( I assume). I'm sure throughout the gazillion years they have been having it, the crowds have quadrupled, so I'm sure they have had to hire more officers to work during this time and that costs money. I'm sure the security/police officers are working this festival to bring in extra money for their families for Christmas and they probably wouldn't want to work for free and volunteer their Christmas spirit. I know I sure wouldn't want to. :/

I did call them to see why they are charging and they said it helps pay for the cost of the festival which I understand. The cost for admission is only $5.00.

Musical entertainment is someone named Frank Foster, who I have no idea who he is. I see why he is "Louisiana's best kept secret". No one knows who he is. :lau Someone named Lainey Wilson will also be performing. Don't know who that is as well.

Your right! Those fireworks cost money too. Plus the insurence they have to have etc. It's a small price for the fun. I forgot myself for a min. I own a company everything cost money. Pam

Well, I wasn't going to say anything about that "everything cost money", so I'm glad you thought about it and mentioned it Since, I'm the person who always goes "against" "normal", I didn't want it to appear that I was being "Lady Grinch".

I know if a customer came by and told me that I should have Christmas Spirit and give away for free some turkeys, lamb, chickens, geese, chickens, ducks and peacocks AND eggs, I would :lau in their face.

They are beautiful birds and I would love to have more of them but they lay white eggs. :hit

The 50 free chicks that I got a while back had 2 Leghorn roosters in the bunch and they are beautiful.!!!

Really!! I thought we were friends. Did you have to post that picture of me before I have coffee??

I will explain my point of view like such: Imagine whatever town you live in has a nice festival with fireworks every year. Every year the money that tourists spend on the booths, shops, hotel, parking fees and other festivities always more then cover the expenses of the festival. Every year more tourists come and spend even more, boosting the town greatly. No one is ever asked to pay for the privilege of walking on the street. This goes on for all of your life and then some (87 years to be exact). This festival that has always generated more then enough for the town to put on fireworks and sit plump for the year. Then one year some official says hey, we could make more money by charging these tourists to walk on this street!!! I am not being a Grinch. I'm calling B.S. on greediness.

Maybe your festivals actually need those funds to put it on. I wouldn't complain if Natchitoches really needed fees to put on the festival, but when they have not charged street fees for over 80 years of festivals then I balk. The amount of traffic to Natchitoches is actually a big economic boom. So many people drive there to see the lights then put money into the local shops and restaurants.

You have a very valid point. I also know the cost of general liability ins. has gone through the roof. They are getting less money from State and federal cuts.
Your no grinch because I also believe it's there own fault for government waste ,miss management , and criminals in office. I think if your just walking down the street to see lights there should be no charge. After all your taxes already paid for the street. If your going to see the band I understand the cost.
This all goes back to my biggest pet peeve . Lawyers are the biggest greedy crooks and we need to stop voting for them. They make laws for us to follow while excluding themselves from those same laws. Just my opinion . Pam
