"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

We candled our eggs, we are at day 7 (minus a few hrs). I am so surprised!!! We have 12 eggs from the lady at hubbys work. When she gave them to us, 2 of the eggs had a spider hairline crack pattern. So we hit each of them with super glue

(you never know, I have read where people hatched out of cracked eggs that were repaired with wax) So out of her dozen eggs, today 11 have color, the cracked ones are among the ones with color. We also threw in a motley crew from our eggs here. We have 3 bantam eggs with color and one full size egg that we can see in has color and one full size egg that is too dark to see into. I had put a couple of bantam eggs in that that had previously been in the fridge for a couple of days. Again just for the fun of it. But they are clear.

We are not counting any of these chicks before they hatch. We have gotten good hatch rates from our own bantam Cochins and Silkies. But hubby says that this lady at work has not had good hatch rates at all with her eggs. She is using the same kind of bator as us. So if we get a good hatch maybe she should read some things here on this site to help her trouble shoot. I really would not know a thing without reading so many helpful threads here on BYC.

Hubbys intent is for any of the larger chickens that hatch to be for the freezer

Only.........I see a problem with that. She reportedly gave us eggs from Buff Orph, and Wyandottes. I don't know which breed the roo is or what color of Wyandotte. But I do know that I think both of those breeds are really pretty. I almost hope they come out looking like a monkeys uncle so I won't mind them going to the freezer!!!

I am just happy we have so many showing color at 1/3 of the way through.

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

I got up early and made some salt soap bars for my teen. We are going to see how that works with her outbreaks (which are minimal but we still do all we can to help). Then I had a little nap

Now I am going to see what trouble I can get into for the rest of the day. (We need a smiley with a horns and halo

I put lattice on the side that gets hard sun in the summer.

At the apex of the roof is a painted metal wreath that says "Welcome" and has a turkey on it that wiggles.

I love it! How great are you?! Looks like you build them their own gazebo!

In the Spring I'm going to put their coops under it. But they already enjoy it a lot. I put hay under it and they like to make a nest in the hay on cold or rainy days. It's fairly large and stays dry underneath.

Can y'all tell me what kind of duck this is? Was sold to me as an Indian Runner as a duckling, that's obviously not what it is

It looks like Amanda has more paint on her than your shelter. Gotta love it there so easily entertained when their young! Pam
