Funny, I walked in on my mother watching something on the computer about how dangerous things are in store bought foods. She couldn't understand why the FDA approved them if they were bad for your health. And she thinks I'm strange for raising and hunting my own meat where I can. The worst part is she had called me not 1/2 an hour before to go get her some fast food. Needless to say she wasn't hungry after watching it.

I agree. It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out you're feeding your animal too much long before that point. That much feeding isn't love so much as cruel. No animal can be comfortable in that condition. I actually have to feed in the opposite direction. My shepherd does not hold weight well. She needs a high protein active dog diet. It's not too hard to watch your animals condition and feed accordingly.

I have three here and the two males I have to feed hard(heavy) the female not so much she tends to "retain" hers too much even though she is out and about way more than the boys they roam too much to suit the neighborhood
