"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

The last pic of Hubby and I from 2013. I was COMPLETELY FROZEN so my oldest put her wolf hat/scarf thingie on me:rolleyes: (I feel the need to tell people that I normally do not wear such attire, lol). Then my youngest decided to photo bomb our picture  My kids are crazy. I am glad that we got to go to the zoo and see the Christmas lights....even if it was after Christmas. It was the last night they were having them this year.
It's a very nice photo. Love the photo bomb.

I can't wait to see pictures and hear names of these fuzzy butts.

The first one hatched the night before last (Sultan X Japanese). Her (hopefully) name is Yule (smallest white one). She is in with her two "adopted" silkie siblings, Constantine (partridge) and Lou (white) I got from a friend. They are about 4-5 days old. The Silkie X Sultan from this morning is my New Years "Resolution" (her name). She isn't near ready to come out of the hatcher yet.

Angel it sounds like you are doing good with your meaties :thumbsup
I am getting just a FEW!  Plus the eggs in the bator.  But we are down to 2 birds in the freezer :barnie   That is not cool now that I know how tasty the homegrown ones are.  I would love to do organic feed for...........,,,,
...........,.....,,,,,,,,, things we WON'T BE MAKING AGAIN.  Bleck on some of those things we tried :sick :sick   They aren't worth the mention.

We finished up making a new batch of the sauerkraut this evening.  The recipe calls for 25lbs of shredded cabbage.  Super 1 had it on sale for 25cents a lb.  Now that is going to be some cheap sauerkraut since the only other ingredient is a cup of the canning salt.  Yippee!!!  Stinky Pantry starting in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...................

What kind of kraut. I love most krauts, I had some with bits of apple in it, it was so good with pork chops to my surprise. I do not like Check kraut with sugar and caraway seeds. There are a lot of regional tweaks to kraut. When ordering in a restaurant I always ask or regret it. Most of the time my server is very confused by the question, no idea that there are different krauts. I had one once, (home made) made my eyes cross. Do you ever add a little apple cider vinegar with mother to your brine? I have never made kraut, but heard of that.

Funny, I walked in on my mother watching something on the computer about how dangerous things are in store bought foods. She couldn't understand why the FDA approved them if they were bad for your health. And she thinks I'm strange for raising and hunting my own meat where I can. The worst part is she had called me not 1/2 an hour before to go get her some fast food. Needless to say she wasn't hungry after watching it.

:gig The FDA are people that are as competent as the FAA at trucking regulations.

I bring eggs to my doctor, he told me he dose not wash them before using them. We are way to clean, our body's have no defense from invading bugs. Need to be clean, but not operating room clean. Good greens, non-pesticide, you wash but shouldn't get upset about getting every bug egg off. If you cook it, its dead, if not it's just protein. I love my doctor. I will miss him. He also is open to the parasite treatment for certain chronic ailments. Apparently there are parasites that will raise your natural immune system and make you healthier. But you have to keep your internal pets under control.

I will miss my new age doctor when I move.

This is only shredded cabbage and canning salt. Then if there isn't enough liquid coming from the cabbage after a while, I make some additional Brine to help cover the cabbage while it ferments. I can post the link for you to the recipes when I get back to my computer. When I can up this batch of sauerkraut I want to add dill to a jar and maybe caraway seeds to another jar. Apple sounds yummy too.

* You should probably skip over this kountrygirl before you get any ideas...*

Well tonights bonfire is going to be spectacular! The neighbors moved and abandoned all of their furniture, so a house load of furniture is about to go whoosh. It's going to be HUGE. Unfortunatley they also abandoned their last dog, the part-grown puppy.

Someone else, distant relatives of my husband actually, are moving in so we know for certain they have gone and just left the furniture and dog behind. Who in the hell does that?! Too many people, I know. How can you just abandon a dog?! A dog that only exists because they let an unspayed female run loose. I'm GLAD they are GONE, GONE, GONE! Good riddance.
