Not sure if this was answered or not but he looks like he could be a Barred Rock Rooster with the darker coloring on the tail feathers. He is handsome!
Thanks!

Foreverlearning,
How is your new rooster doing?
I think he just scared off a hawk. I let them out to free range for the first time since I lost Casanova and Bullet today and heard a hawk flying low. He belted out a couple of the deepest most horrible attempts at a crow and the hawk went away. The babies I have left are laying contently in the middle of the yard for the first time ever. The hen that tried to pluck one of the babies is not allowed around them, he runs interference. He has tried to woo them but they aren't hearing it yet. I had a hen get out of the training yard so I held her upside down for everyone to see and he tried to bulldoze the fence the first time (didn't like me doing it), the second time he growled at her. He is finding all the goodies for his girls and his extra large feet are making good digging tools.

Does anyone use used coffee grinds for anything?

Compost.
Thanks. I searched the yard but couldn't find any eggs. But, 9 months old, there must be eggs. You are right, there are just too many places eggs could be vso, starting today they are confined to their coop for a couple of days. They have their own coop. Let's see if there are some eggs.
Check their vents to see if they are laying yet. Puckered circle means no, large thin line means yes.

i am looking for rhode island reds new hampshire reds prouduction reds and red sex links id greatly appricate it if you could please help me out thanks
TSC sells those breeds as well as ideal poultry. RIR would be best from a breeder if you plan on showing them but the hatchery ones are still beautiful.

Thanks!

So glad your new rooster is fitting in. Glad to hear the others are doing well also. Will "rooster" have a name?

Congratulations. By experience, keep your eye on the RIR. I have the same setup: 2 of 2 breeds and one RIR. I found out the hard way that it's true: birds of a feather flock together. My poor Primrose had to learn to protect herself bec she doesn't have an RIR friend. It's worth it if you are able to get her one now. Primrose is my avatar and my baby, but she is a bad pecker and if she had spurs she would have really hurt some people. I think it was bec she doesn't have an RIR buddy. Others on this thread concur. I still want to get her a buddy but I'm pushing the envelope at 5 bec I'm not allowed any.
