"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Thanksgiving day everyone was looking at me strange for getting several coffee pots, they thought I was crazy when I told them they burn out quickly at my house. This year the black and decker ones were on sale and the old one that I have has lasted the longest, 1 whole year without the burner plate or pump burning out. I clean mine often but there is always a new pot brewing before the auto shut off can kick in. I drink it like the Britt's drink tea!

You need a bun, makes a full pot in 3 min. Mine is 7 or 8 years old. Broke once called bun it was out of warranty. They sent the parts to fix for free. Yes there pricy but how many makers have you gone threw in 7 years. Pam

My Austrolorp BONNIE has a LOT of white goop on her butt! I watched her poop and that part is fine, fell to the ground like normal...so has anyone ever seen or heard of what could be causing this? She still lays for me almost every day, today included. No other physical symptoms at all.

I haven't exactly figured out who my head hen is.  HMMMMM....It might be my LouLou.  Prim and her granddaughter are coming out to the house this weekend, I'll see if she can help me figure it out.  I feel a little silly not knowing.

I'll give you every bit of chicken knowledge I have. Hummm. May not be much, but very heart felt.

Thanks!

I think he just scared off a hawk. I let them out to free range for the first time since I lost Casanova and Bullet today and heard a hawk flying low. He belted out a couple of the deepest most horrible attempts at a crow and the hawk went away. The babies I have left are laying contently in the middle of the yard for the first time ever. The hen that tried to pluck one of the babies is not allowed around them, he runs interference. He has tried to woo them but they aren't hearing it yet. I had a hen get out of the training yard so I held her upside down for everyone to see

I heard on this thread that holding upside down has some risk of the chicken dying, like quickly bec I was going to do that to Prim for attacking me and that's what someone said. Maybe was Jeff, it's been a while back so I don't remember. As to Prim, I started carrying her around when I would go out and she had gotten better, but she's still a pecker. Lol. Hey, Angel, is that an implied bad .....?????

If you hold them for a long time like that it can stop their breathing because their lungs are on their back. Mine go upside down for no more then 5 seconds, just long enough to get the point across. Letting everyone see is to get the rest to understand that what they did was not approved. Some of my birds talk to me and others flap their wings when I have to do it, I make sure no one is hurting or having any problems with energy or breathing. They are laying on their lungs in a dust bath as well so that gives you a good idea of how long they can do it without harm.

Thank you! I never knew they existed but now that I looked them up I remember seeing them all over. I will pay more not to have to replace them often.
