"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

So, I"m in the chicken yard this weekend and I hear a lot of noise coming from the 55 gallon metal burn barrel. The noise does not stop. I cannot see in the barrel. So, I immediately think that a snake, raccoon, opossum, nutra or some other creature is trapped in there and can't get out and is waiting on me to talk over so that it can attack me. Well, I get closer and I look in. This is what I see. :/

I'm embarrassed. As much as I feed these animals, they resort to the trash for food.

What breed is she??

16 frickin' degrees this morning. Really? Winter can go away now! Strangely none of my birds seem to mind - they just get out & go scrounging around like normal. You'd think their feet would be cold! OK time to get ready & start the all-around-the-horn trip to work -- my normal 8-10 minute drive took me 30 minutes to get home yesterday -- interstate is still closed & all the big trucks are having to move through the back streets too, which slows everything down.

Have a good one everybody!

Is that the same lady you gave me her ph #? I asked her to send me pictures of some of her Cornish hens so maybe we could get some hatching eggs or some pullets from her. I never heard back from her.
Dang, she must have forgotten! Im sorry about that. Weird, usually she is right on the ball.. though she stays busy as hell.

Does anyone know of anyone in louisiana raising bantam wyandottes. I raise 6 different colors and I am looking for some new lines. Thanks for any input.

So, during this forced winter vacation, in regards to my husband...........................Yesterday he helped me redesign the labels for my soap.  They look SO much better!!!  He is so much better at designing on those programs because he has been taking classes.   And now this evening he just whipped up this design scheme for a complete remodel of our coop/run.  We have been discussing his "meat bird" breeding program and I guess that was the motivation for this.   So far though I am still batting a big fat zero on finding the type of hens that he wants.  But we are still searching and I am sure we will find it eventually.

Related to the search of the kinds of hens he would like........I was looking at what some of the hatcheries have and then decided to look up reviews on them.  Daves Garden has a great section that has a place to review different hatcheries.  WOW!!!!!  I was pretty horrified at some of the stories on some of the hatcheries!

If he comes through with this plan It will be so awesome and I will be much more proud of the "digs" that my ladies get to live in!

That is great!!! I want to take carpentry classes so bad but there are no weekend classes. I can't take classed ruing the week because I work. :/ I want to learn how to build ANYTHING. :p
